ive introduced me, heres my rats

lol its a personal thing. i dont see them as hairless anymore, they are just iggy, mimzy and nakey. but then i guess its the same with people who have chinese crested dogs and sphynx cats, even though i think they are odd looking

awww i love that last pic of Spike. I am officially his no1 fan  So are they loving and stuff? I've never even considered a rat as a pet, i just thought they hung out in sewers or something. How do you look after them? Do they get grouchy. Sorry for all the questions but i'm intrigued :D

ewwwww.... sorry but me no likey!! Growing up on a farm, rats to me equal nasty scare little things that shuffle about behind you in the Dutch Barn.

As you said tho, each to their own.

One question tho, the pics of the cages, the cages are right up against your bed - do they not chew the matress?

the best way to describe them is like little dogs that you can cage

they play (bucks - males are much more lazy and as they get older will sit and watch TV with you whereas does - females are more likely to be off and making some nest or stashing food) they crave attention and jump at the bars of the cage when they hear you come in. obviously you can train them (thats pretty well known)

depending on the rat they can get grouchy but thats some of my pet shop and rescue ones. my breeder ones (kofi, gnarly, petrie, topps, debbie harry) are so stupid in unbelievable, they wouldnt hurt a fly! lol

here are a few videos that show rats

this is some girls (my friend lucy bred sushi and mouse)

yeah they did, that bed got chucked and they arent by my bed now  it wasnt the mattress they chewed it was the bedding, so i never had expensive bedding

now they are at the back of the room (nowhere near my bed  ) and have a huge wipe down table cloth thing behind each cage so its easy to clean :)

i will get some more up to date photos as those pics are really old!

I LOOOOOOOOOVE rats! :cheer:

Really wanted a couple of rats and when OH FINALLY gave in, we realised that the cage had to be a bit bigger than we'd anticipated and we didnt realy have the room :( So we ended up with a hamster for beth instead :shakehead:  Not really the same.....

rats are wondeful pets.My fave was called Alice, and she would love to siton my shoulder and nuzzle up to me. She would come running when you called her name and would give you a peck on the cheek when you said kiss. She had to be put down though as she had a problem with her jaw and her teeth grew funny so had to keep getting them filed. This was stressing her out and she lost weight so it was decided to stop her suffering.I cried so much over that rat. Rats are naturally clean too. The males tend to be a bit more whiffy as they are quite musky but they are so easy to keep clean and they tend to keep their house in order.

We were going to wait till Seren was old enough to have a pet and get her some rats (they are ideal first pets much better then rabbits or hamsters) but this thread is making me want more, and I keep looking at breeders websites. I really want a rex dumbo pair.
