The other day I wrote a message about being really down, crying and feeling sick etc..... and no, those symptoms haven't gone yet but the next day I felt great (relatively speaking), ate nearly regular portions and kept them down and then went for a scan!

It's strange, I almost didn't feel REALLY pregnant until someone else confirmed it for me and now I've seen the pictures! He/she actually waved at us! All seems well, blood work is good, weight loss is not an issue...the only thing we have to consider is the amnio test (I'm 35!)

So life is good!! :D

At 35 there is no reason why you should consider an amnio test unless your bloodwork and nuchal fold measurement combination come out at high risk. Your nuchal fold won't be measured until between 11 and 13 weeks.

My sister who is 36 is on her 3rd pregnancy. She had a slightly high nuchal fold but when her blood test results came back they were really good so she has a 1/2,500 chance of having a baby with downs syndrome. She wouldn't have even been given the option of amnio unless her result (with the combination of NF measurement and blood test) came back as her having a lower than 1/300 chance of ds.

If your nuchal fold is slightly larger than the norm you still will have the blod test resutls before you ever have to consider an amnio or chorionic sampling (taken from the placenta), so don't worry!

This is exactly how I feel right now, I KNOW im pregnant, ive got all the symptoms and well, we just know, but because of never having had success with HPT's (3rd pregnancy and my last 2 never showed positive - suspect my HgC doesnt metabolize into my urine) it isnt actually confirmed yet. So even though I know, until I have solid prrof, it wont seem real.

Glad your feeling ok now :D

Thanks Dinski, very informative! However, I'm doing this all in the States so I suspect they have a slightly different way of doing things. They did mention doing the blood tests but said they have a high tendancy to give a false positive and that usually worries people but they gave us a number of a person who can talk us through the pros and cons so that was good.

It's wierd how we doubt our bodies even though they're screaming out the obvious to us!

Yes,no doubt they'll offer any number of tests so long as the health insurance is going to pay out!

You're absolutely right! But it's amazing how well they treat you because they know that if you don't feel you're being treated well, you'll just take your business elsewhere! Don't get me wrong, I think it's amazing to have a health service that cares for everyone but it certainly takes a bit of getting used to!

Hi

Thats great hun, hope you can enjoy your pregnancy now
