Hello, how is everyone doing? :)

My LO is 17 weeks old now and he's always had dry skin but recently it's been very itchy. I took him to the doctors and they gave me a steroid cream for his cheeks and hands (hydrocortisone) and aveeno for the rest of his body and Bath. His cheeks are defiantly better but his scalp is still very dry and when I bath him he scratches his front. I used cradle cap shampoo but it just seemed to dry him out even more so I'm starting to not wash his hair / try keep his head dry and put the aveeno cream on it as its preventing his hair from growing.

Has anyone else had any experience with dry/itchy skin? Should i still be bathing him everyday or less?

Thanks x

My LO has had dry skin since he was born, advise is to only bath every 2/3 nights and don't use any kind of soap, it drys out the skin even more.

Try putting oilatum or what works for my LO is simple baby mosituring bath,

It will get better as they get older

Our lo suffers from dry itchy skin too. The best thing we have found that works is a combination of the 1% cream, oilatum in the bath and washing him with emulsifying ointment, and then double base gel at every nappy change / applying it as much as you can.
We use no soaps not even for his hair.
We also don't bathe him every day more like 3 or 4 days or whenever he seems to need one!
It's such a pain for them! Hope you find something that works. All that we used is prescribed. Our health visitor at the drop in prescribes it all for us!

Does your LO itch? When bradley cries im sometimes not sure if it's because he's itchy or teething! Is it all over his body? Bradley's is worst on his head/face and torso! It's horrible :(

We also had this, best thing the doctors gave me was 'doublebase gel' ive been using it since he was about 10 weeks old, twice a day sometimes once. and we have had hardly any problems since.

They also gave me the same steroid cream to use when it 'flares up' only needed to a ccouple of time to begin with, now apart from his cheeks due to cold weather his skin is baby soft. Seriously recommend it! xxx

He is now eight months old and I can tell now that his cries are due to being itchy! And yeah he used to itch all the time scratches all over his legs and stuff. Which makes me feel bad because when he was little he had the itchy skin but we just didnt know how bad it was for him, it must of caused a lot of his irritability x

Have you tried some oilatum in the bath & oilatum cream? HV prescribed my lb some when he got a dry/sore looking patch of skin & cleared up in a couple of days

Yeah he tried oilatim first - it didn't make a great difference. The aveeno seems to be working a little. He's got the doctors Again on wednesday for a check up so i think il ask them for some double base
