Wasnt sure where to put this, but as im concerned about his health ill put it in here.

My friend is taking her 5 month son to playgroup in September and has asked me if i would like to come along and bring Evan who is 9 weeks. Apparently they have a baby section there. Im a little worried as he hasnt had his injections yet. He is due his 8 week ones tomorrow, but im not sure whether to wait till he has had his immunisations up to 4 months. Has anyone else taken their little one to a playgroup this young. I know i must sound a bit over protective, but i would hate for him to be ill, when i could prevent it.

I started taking Jake at about 8 weeks old and he has been fine. I wouldn't worry too much as if peoples children were really ill they wouldn't take them to playgroup. The immunisations don't protect your LO from things like minor things like colds anyway and although it's horrible if they do get one you can't stay in all of the time just incase. At the playgroup I go to there are lots of small baby's and older children up to the age of about four. I know there is always still a chance that your LO will catch something but it would probably more likely be something that the immunisations don't protect against anyway. It's up to you but I think you should go as it is good to get out of the house and have some adult conversation. I would imagine that you will also enjoy showing off your LO :D The link below is just so that you can see what the immunisations protect against.

I took Austin to a baby & toddler group from about 4 weeks old because my mum runs it and wanted to show off her grandson! To be honest I didn't even think about him getting ill, I know they still have some of your antibodies for the first few weeks, and even longer if you're breastfeeding?

I'd go but if you're worried don't let anyone else hold him whilst you're there.

Thanks for the advice, I shall take him along and have some fun xx

I took Ruby from around 5 weeks, I never even gave it a thought to be honest  There were few other babies the same age...she was fine and it was great for me to talk to other mummies in the same stage as me, and also see other babies of different ages and how they develop etc. I miss it now I am back in work full time, Ruby goes to nursery now 2 days a week and I am sure she will come home with plenty of things over the next few years...colds, nits etc  :rotfl:

Took Alex along to his first when he was 6 days old, needed to try to keep some normality going for DD and didn't want her to miss out on her tuesday group :)
