has anyone used one? im 99% decided id like to use one for this birth but havent heard 1st hand how people got on with them.
i hired a £200 pound one and cos i transfered in i didnt get to use it and i dont have that sort of money to waste this time.
i think i prefer the birth pool in a box cos it has a seat but im open minded.

The midwife at antenatal classes said you can get them for £50 and they sometimes have pictures on the side so that you can then use them for a paddling pool later on! My cousin bought a £150 expensive one recently for her homebirth and ended up having a CSec at the hospital so it never got used!!! :rotfl: :rotfl:

tescos are selling 8 foot pools for £8. They are just what you need.

you'll have to get a pool heater though - you can get from ebay.

Ive pmed Kina for you I'm sure she had an inflatable pool.

I bought a birth pool in a box when I was pregnant, but never got to use it because my labour was so quick we didn't have time to inflate it let alone fill it up!

My sister had her 3rd daughter at home on Wednesday, and used the pool. She had previously had a waterbirth and had hired a pool but said she preferred the new one. It was big enough for her OH to get in to support her, and has handles on the side to hang on to.

They're not that expensive, I bought the actual pool from https://www.birthpoolinabox.co.uk/ for about £80 + postage. You can buy/hire a water pump from the website to but I just went to homebase & got one for half the price.

I just hope that next time I'll get to use it!

Forgot to say, the sides are designed to be strong enough for your partner/midwife to sit on to support you if needs be. And the base is padded for more comfort. So it is different to a normal paddling pool.

I bought my birthing pool from Made in Water www.madeinwater.co.uk . I bought the package including the pump to inflate/deflate and a pump to get rid of the water, which was invaluable really as to empty it with buckets would have been messy and time consuming. With the pump to get rid of the water it too DH approx 20 mins to empty it. The pool was SO comfy, even if I only got chance to be in it for a very short while. The sides were strong enough to lean over/sit on and it was deep enough to really wallow. I can highly recommend the pool and am hoping next time I get chance to use it for longer!!

I had this one too - it was brilliant. I bought it with a friend who was due a couple of months before me and we shared it and both had successful home water births. We just bought an extra liner.

The total cost between us both was about £160 and this included the heated cover, extra liner (as it was for both of us), inflatey thing, water pump and lots of other bits and pieces.

I would definitely recommend the bigger one and I swam and floated about in it like a beached whale!

I am actually LOOKING FORWARD to using it again!

I didn't know you were expecting again nathansmum - how far gone are you? Congratulations!
