Have any of you been induced after a section? I was told by more than one specialist that it can't be done as there is a very high risk to uterine rupture. A friends girlfriend had a section with her last child a year or two ago and has been booked in to be induced next week, she has also had an operation on her womb. I'm really worried.

In our area they won't induce after a section. If you're not progressing second time around then they'll do another section - this happened to my friend who got to 8.5cm before they did an emergency caesarean due to lack of progress. I presume they just have different policies in different hospitals.

Hope she's OK

Yeah I have been told by my consultant that they will not induce you after a section so if you go over or need the baby out then they will do an elective section. It was related to increased risk of rupture and iritating the uterus.

I would encourage your friend to ring the unit and explain her concerns. You can refuse to be induced but I guess it depends on why she is having it done. Also don't forget you can ask for a second opinion if you aren't happy with something the Dr has said....

Thanl you ladies. It's the dad I am friends with and although I have quoted what people have said and what I have read, also what my consultant told me, he seems to be happy with it. I hope though that he tells his girlfriend what I said.

Thanks hun. Not one person so far has told me different anywhere, makes it more worrying really as I don't think they'll be saying anything. I hope she goes into labour and has a natural birth if not.

It depends on how they intend to induce her hun its only the drip that causes risks as it doesnt mimic normal build up the gel/tablet is just a hormone that gently brings on a natural progressive labour so this would just be like her starting herself? Hope this helps Rachx
