Ryan fell off the bed this afternoon :( I feel stupid because I was only away from him for a split second and I just heard this giant thud and I thought oh god no please say he's ok and my stomach just lurched.

I feel so annoyed at myself and stupid, I've seen and heard other people say their baby fell off the bed, but a lot older than 5 months... :wall:

So...

When I saw him on the floor he was on his front on all fours, screaming, understandably but after a couple of minutes of mummy hugs he's been fine and back to his usual chirpy self. No bump/bruise anywhere, and I moved all his arms and legs around and he wasn't in obvious pain...

So I think I can safely say he is ok.

Is there anything I need to watch out for in the next few hours?

I really can't believe I was that stupid... I usually put him down in his cot every time but just this once I put him on the bed and he was off like a shot :wall:

It's so easy to do, because we're used to them being tiny and not being able to roll about, then all of a sudden they can! Don't beat yourself up over it - you didn't do it on purpose, and now you know how quickly he can move you won't do it again. I'm sure he'll be fine - if he was sore he would let you know about it

I would say keep an eye on his head, from experience. Just keep a look out for bruises and when he goes to sleep id have the monitor on just to keep an eye on h9is breathing and give you peace of mind.

He will be fine im sure. Hes so active now.

aww dont feel bad shell. melissa fell off the bed a month or two ago, so i kno how u feel tho.
if u wiggle all his joints and apply gentle pressure with ur thumbs on his face and he doesnt flinch, and his eyes focus on u i'd say he's ok.

Don't feel bad, just one of those things. Glad he's ok

Awwwww hope you are both ok
As the others have said, don't feel bad about it - accidents happen!

Aw Shell, don't feel bad!

Stanley did this a couple of times, it really only takes that split second of looking away. Babies can be tremendously resilient, I'm sure he'll be fine xx

Please don't feel bad, we all do things like this! Is so easy. Freya fell out of my bed one morning, I had fallen sleep with her on the bed, she was on the outside, she just slipped off. I was shaking I felt so awful, but it is amazing how resiliant these little ones are, Freya was fine, I am sure Ryan will be too.

My DD fell off the bed when she was 3 weeks old and she's fine! Eeek, I felt so awful - like Ellie I'd been feeding her and she just rolled off when I fell asleep. The worst thing was that as she was so tiny, she couldn't roll obviously, so I must have nudged her - eeek!

 leckershell, don't feel bad.

Sweetie, you are NOT stupid, we have all been there..I posted sunday as Ruby had fell down 4 stairs as I had forgotten to close the stair gate behind me :x  and have spent all week feeling sick and guilty and like a bad mummy  My confidence is rock bottom at the mo and I felt so bad that she could of been hurt...

You care so much about your little man, which is why you feel so bad, and that shows what a fab mummy you are
