Hi guys. Well I've had my baby - a gorgeous little boy. We've called him Quinlan Vaughan and he weighed 7lb 8oz.

It didn't quite go to plan with the homebirth :( . I went into hospital at 38+6 on Friday 7th because I'd had some spotting and when they scanned me they discovered that I had placenta previa. They wouldn't let me leave and scheduled a CS for Monday 10th. It was pretty horrible being stuck in there all weekend, what with my hospital phobia and everything but they wanted to wait for the consultant to do it as I was deemed high risk. Fortunately the op went OK though it took 6 attempts to get the spinal in.

I've just got out of hospital - the combination of CS and severe SPD meant I've been bed bound for the last week so it's very nice to be home :D .

Anyway here's a photo

So lovely to hear you're home and sounding very well too, your son is just adorable, so very sweet, and I love his name too!! :cheer: I for one experienced a dramatic change in birth plans too, so I can empathize, and very well done, it must have been hard, you did good Mummy, congratulations on your new family addition, he's gorgeous

Im sorry you didnt get your homebirth hun, but with your condition anything could of happened couldnt it.
On the bright side congratulations on your gorgeous boy, and thats a lovely name he has - unusual though, i have not heard it before.

CC,

I was worried about you! I'm sorry that you didn't get your homebirth but I'm also so very proud of you! I had worried at one point that your phobia of hospitals might cause you to put yourself and your baby at risk by refusing to go in, no matter what. To hear that you voluntarily went in to get checked out before the labour AND that you stayed in for a whole weekend, knowing that you were going to be facing a cs!!! well, what can I say? You are one very brave lady and I think that you should give yourself a huge pat on the back. I really admire your courage.

Your little boy looks like such a "little man". He's adorable.

I know, from first-hand experience, that a traumatic birth can affect you for a long time afterwards, so if you're feeling a bit "flat" (or worse) after what you've gone through, then I completely understand and please pm me any time. What you must try to do is put any idea that you have "failed" (in not giving birth naturally at home) completely out of your mind. Even though it's natural to feel this, and disappointment too, let it go. You have shown great courage in facing your worst fears and going into hospital. Well done you!

I hope little Quinlan goes easy on his mummy for now :D and that he brings you both lots of joy. Congratulations!!!

xxxx
