Help!

Today I church I bumped into an old friend of mine, a very nice guy, he saw my bump and congratulated me etc. He then asked me questions about my pregnancy, how far I was and which hospital I was at! I said "The whittington hospital in North London" then he said "Are you kidding? I'm a trainee obstrecian there!"

AAAAAAAaaaargggh!!!! Imagine if he needs to examine me at some point, or even delivers my baby!!!!!

Am I allowed to refuse to be seen by a particular doctor/trainee/nurse? I don't wanna have to 'bare it all' in front of him, and I certainly wouldn't want a church brother to deliver my baby! lol We're ok as friends but HOW EMBARRASSING would that be!

yes I think you can refuse - and I'm sure he would understand why :D

When I was in labour with no.2 I went into hospital and the MW assigned to me was an old family friend, friend of my mother who i'd grown up knowing of, but she did ask me if i wanted someone else if so I'm sure it'd be the same for you and you get an option if you know them. I didn't request anyone else as all I cared about was getting my hands on the gas and air!

Hi laetitia,

Last summer I went into hospital to get a lump removed from my left boob, just to day surgery. The doctor who called me through turned out to be an old friend and flatmate of OH's and he had to call his registrar (whatever that is  ) and ask him to do the operation as he couldn't.

I'm not sure if this was because he knew me and it wasn't allowed or 'cos he knew me and the operation was in a 'sensitive' area or whether he just felt more comfortable asking someone else to do it?

Anyway - just thought I'd say that he might not be allowed to treat you anyway or might not feel like he could - so then you needn't worry.

Hope that makes sense!

thanks for sharing your stories ladies, i will make sure im not seen by him. he's only a trainee anyway, i don't think he does that much in the hospital. thanks everyone

We know someone who is a midwife and has just found out that she's preg. Is in a bit of an awkward situation because she will have to find a diff midwife team as she doesn't want the ladies she works with to look at her bits!

:rotfl: sorry it makes me laugh :rotfl:

I guess for a midwife it's everyday routine to be looking at ladies bits but when it's your own it's a different thing altogether! :rotfl:
