I need help i just dont kow what i should bee doing with Kayla and her huge appetite

From day 1 she has had a huge angry appetite and goes crazy for her bottle , she barly lets me wind her once in the middle se gets so mad when i take the bottl eaway

Anyway last night she went mad after 120 mils noting would settle her so i gave her another bit but then she trew up, she still wouldnt settle and was acting like she was still hungry , pullng "elvis" face as we call it and trng to eat my hand neck anything she culd get near her with her little snory and cry so after half hour i gave her little more and tried to settle her and put her in moses basked as she was starting to get sleepy and i had been up so long i was exhaustd after being in it for 20 mins she trew up again , so changed her again and re settled her and put her down, had started to feed her at 350 and was about 530 when she went to sleep

now tonight she is after doing the same had full 120 went mad for more so gave bit more and trew up again , she just seems a bit off i think but i just dont know whats wrong with her If shes hungry i should be feeding her shouldnt i or is it me tahts making her sick? seems like either way im making her suffer, shes a very good baby and doesnt cry hysterically except for hunger and getting changed but maybe shes in paing but how do i know.

any ideas?

She may still need to be burped. My lo roots and wants more milk when she rally just needs to burp. She also hates being burped and squirms like crazy!

oh really? didnt even know it could be that i just asumed she ws hungry, im feeling like such a bad mother i just dont what what do do when she crys, everyone said oh ul know her different crys ? well i donnt have a clue :-( will try winding her more at her next feed now and see. have also been giving her infacol for a few days now so dont know if maybe the build up of that could be making her sick?

Also should have said we had been giving her the sma ready made bottles in the hosptial and first few days at home but when we went to powder with the avent bottles she struggled to get anything out of it so we moved her onto the no 2 hold teeth so maybe she's getting too muc too fast? would it be cruel to go back to 1 hole now?

You're not a bad Mom! It takes time to figure things out, and this forum is a huge help. My LO is 5 weeks old and I am finally starting to know her cries... I think.

As for the bottles, it's not cruel to change the nipples. Might work better for her. You can always switch back to two holes.

Apparently ready made formula is thicker than powder so it may be that too. I agree that she may need more winding. Henry does that on the breast. He eats, plays up so I wind him when he puts his fist in his mouth for more food. I try to gI've him more but he stil plays up then gives me a huge windy smile so I know he needs more winding xx

Does sound like wind. I found infacol made Kynon sick too so stopped using it and winded him more during feeds. Maybe switch back to the smaller hole teat too? I don't know much about bottle feeding but have you tried other bottles? They can be quite different, i have a Meleda calma, tommee tipee and advent

this is exactly what I said to my husband last night... I should know what my baby's cries mean and know how to respond... I don't!! And that makes me feel like a bad mother. I automatically think she is hungry, but it could be that she needs burping (I hadn't realised that either!). My LO also is constantly hungry and each time I think she is full enough to settle she cries for what I think is more food... It's a never ending cycle!

We are not bad mothers - it is still early days and learning to understand what our babies need and what they are trying to tell us will take time... It's a whole new language and experience, so try to be easy on yourself and give yourself the time to get to know your LO. I think sometimes the baby isn't sure what it wants / needs either... Often she is tired but a bit hungry too, and probably just doesn't know what she wants! Xx

It's sounds like she is windy/colicky, is it worse at night?

Infacol helped my little man but it's doesn't necessarily work for all babies. If you've given it to her every feed for a few days and its not helped it may not be for her.

There's also other stuff called Colief which I think you add to the bottle. It helps LO break down the lactose in the feed. I just thought with her bringing back milk she might be having a tough time digesting.

Your not bad mothers! My Lo is seven months nearly and I still don't always know her cries. Sometimes I'm sure she just cries because she wants to lol.

It does sound like wind. We used dentinox drops in her bottle for winding as we found it much more effective than infacol. Savannah hated infacol.

Things will become clearer hun. Don't get down or feel like your a bad mum. Everyhing is a learning curve... And we are all here to help each other.

Thanks girls

Was the same last night, she woke at 3 for a feed, i tried to wind her every 30 mls ish against serious protest and after the 120 ( baring in mind 90 is average for her age) she still wanted more but i wouldnt give in just ept trying to wind her more but she kept wriggling her self all over and goin poker straight so i couldnt sit her on my knee to burp her, just couldnt get the wind up at all she was getting so angry too I was at my wits end after 2 hours oh brought her down stairs n gave her 80 n settled her on his chest before taking her bac to the mosses basket .

Have you tried lying her across your knees on her tummy to Burp her? It's the only way we could get Savannah to for a good couple of months

no hadnt tried that willl give it a go at next bottle :)

We thought it was a really stupid idea putting s on her tummy right after they've eaten but it seemed to do the trick for us. Hope it helps

Also have you tried a bit of gripe water x

What way do you support the heaad when putting them accross your knee?

can u give gripe water at that age 13 days? thought infacol was the only thing i could se under 3 months?

Either with the palm of your hand just let them rest on it or support the head with one knee and put tummy across the other.

Yes we gave gripe water and dentinox because s didn't get on with infacol. She hated it infact LOL.

Sound like my LO she hates being winded but is colicky so needs it. She sometimes writhes and slides down off my knee whilst im trying to do it and it drives me nuts. We were using Infacol as well and it seemed to make her more sickly. In the first couple of weeks I was waking at night feeding then was taking me 2 hours to get her resettled now it still takes me about an hour cos of colic. Gripe water is a god send but is can ony be used from a month old (we were counting down the days at this point!!)

I would also try putting her over your shoulder and patting her bum that can help or knee as someone else has said rub her back in a clock wise direction. I still dont know what every cry is for except when she cries in pain. It really is a massive learing curve all this baby malarky!! LOL

just gave her a feed with the no 1 teeth , she still went crazy at me for stopping to wind her but after settling here for 5 r 10 mins at the end i put her down and she screamed blue murder again then after a dummy and rubbing her belly she seems to have settled although stilll awake

will see how we fair off tonight, oh turn for 3 am feed at least lol so im havng a cheeky glass of wine to chil me out is tht wrong

Good luck tonight! When my LO is like that I try burping her and if that doesnt help, I offer her more milk. She either stops eating when she is done or spits it up lol.

could she be allergic to something i the milk......my lo wad intolerant to cows milk and badically never setyled permanently screamed like all day ebery day full vol screaming. we tried infacol and gripe water and notjing worked. his poo was literally like water..........maybe try colief....x
