Having a nightmare trying to decide on a name. We've made a shortlist, and Jesse is currently at the top. The only thing putting us off is that he might get confused for a girl when they just see the name written down.

So was wondering about maybe Hyphenating it. Babys middle names have already been decided as John David due to Grandfathers. So was thinking Jesse-John. I just don't know if its a bit.....well....American!
Makes me think of the Waltons or something! Haha

I would rather have some confusion with gender (although personally I'd think Jesse = boy, Jess/Jessica = girl) than have a hyphenated name for the sake of it. I like your names but really not a fan of Jesse-John with a hyphen. Doesn't work for me. Although having said that, it's entirely up to you! Jesse is nice on its own imo.

I prefer Jesse to Jesse-John too. Think I'm just trying to think up problems with almost every name we think of!

Haha! I wouldn't worry too much before he arrives - chances are you'll settle on a name - either this or something else - as soon as you can see what he suits!

you are probably decide on a name the day you see your baby's face, jesse-john though could be abbreviated to JJ and sound totally different from your imagination

I think if we do call him Jesse we'll end up calling him JJ anyway as his middle name will still be John.
Not even going to try and settle on a name before he's born. Just hoping we'll both decide on one when he's born. At least every one tells me thats what happens.

I love the name Jesse (unfortunately with our surname he'd end up with a celebrity name) and I associate it with men (Aussie and US but it works). JJ is cute too. I wouldn't hyphenate, there's no rational reason why not, just it's a little Waltons!
