Hi all,

I did already post in the first trimester forum but realised i probably should have done it here. So to those who have already read the other post... sorry!Anyway... Im Heidi im 21 and i found out last saturday im pregnant. Went to see midwife on Thursday and i am 6 weeks 2 days today. The pregnancy wasn't exactly planned and came as quite a shock. More so because i have just finished a degree and just begun a masters. Also my partner is in the army, and we only see each other weekends at the moment... so i apologise in advance for my moans about that! Is there anymore ladies living apart from their partners or who partners in the army?

Anyway, hope everyone is ok, hopefully get to know you all a bit better soon!

Heidi x

welcome :) there are definately 2 or 3 i know of on here who's partners are in the army, im sure they will come out the woodwork and introduce themselves!
Congrats on your pregnancy by the way! mine was unplanned too. and here i am in third trimester! crazy! xx

Thanks guys!

Feel so much better about everything having read the posts on here already. So nice how everybody is so kind and supportive and thinking / worrying about the same things! xx

Hi Heidi, I am one hun, well my other half is in the RAF as I used to be in for 9 years also so can understand the lifestyle that is led..... we are due to get married in 2 weeks which makes life that bit easier and was booked before we got our BFP!

Congrats on your pregancy x

Hey! Nice to meet u!

Aww wow, congratulations on both the wedding and BFP, how exciting getting married so soon. Do u have everything sorted? Yes i can imagine it will make things easier, we have been engaged 2 years in April! Was hoping to start booking things in the new year for a wedding but we are putting it on hold for now due to the money side of things with having a baby on the way!

Some people say were daft and should just get married because will get married quarters etc but i don't want to just rush for that reason! xxx

No your right not to rush things just for that reason, and it will happen when you are ready for the both of you, it is also another huge outlay sorting out a house.... am a bit older than you (37) and have done it already once before lol.
Wedding things pretty much done as it is going to be a very small do (both divorced before) so will just worry about ourselves for a change.... only problem is that I can't wear the corset I bought! Arrggghhhh.
The only good side of married quarters is that the house is cheaper to rent but that is it, it is down to them to stick you in whichever area they feel like.

xx

Definately agree. I live with my mum and am in uni and he is going to be on a course when i will be due... so it doesn't make sense to move just yet because i would be alone with a new born baby. After the course he is due a posting so we are going to wait until then and will rent in that area until we have the money to get married. In the meantime i will have the extra help of my mum!

Gonna be a nightmare that for a little while when he will just be home on weekends, but we will work through it and it means a pay rise!!! Ha.

Im glad the wedding stuff is sorted, sounds like it will be a lovely day! Keep the corset in the closet, u can always renew your vows in the future, and u will have another paige boy or flower girl to celebrate with u! :yay: xxx

Ha ha Heidi, now there is an idea for the future and a future holiday (belated honeymoon) in the sun....... (mind boggling)

Not only that if he is away alot and you are not used to being without your family and friends nearby it can be very very lonely for you and again your right to just wait, you will make friends though in no time but especially with bab being so young it will be harder for you to get out of the house to begin with. You are doing the right thing. Do you know which area he may get posted to?

x

Sounds awesome! Haha, planning the renewal before the wedding!!!

Well he will be in the PT corps after the course, so i think from what i can gather it would mean a job in charge of a gym somewhere, so alot of choices. However where he is based now in chivenor there may be a chance of a job coming up there when he is finished. This wouldnt be bad at all as i have made a few friends there over the years. But i know that Essex, and Yorkshire have been mentioned too. xxx

How spookie is that!!!! My husband to be is a PTI lol well of the older variety.... he does ATI up here in the Cairngorms (adventure training).. and is due a posting within the year so will be coming back down to England I am sure....

So I take it your OH hasn't qualified yet? How long has he got?

x

Weird!!! Yeah he is a PTI, he is on the training team for the pre all arms commando course (I think thats right) at the moment. He just passed PT corps selection, and starts the course in April and its for 9months, so he will be done by the December i think.

My OH's cousin is an ATI too, hes in North Wales at a place called Capel Curig! xxx

I'll have to ask about that place because I know the RAF have a few centres around there in Wales too.

I just hope you are prepared though hun for some lonely times, I know you will know all this but it will happen at some point.... at least you will have bab's and friends to keep you going. I am ok for a few weeks but start going a bit bonkers any time beyond that
x

Yeah i know exactly what u mean! I have had be prepared in the past... we have been together since i was 16 and him 18 and he has done two 6month (well more like 7month) tours of Afghan in that time... also in all these years it has been him travelling home (we are both from same town) just for weekends, so i am prepared in that sense. But i realise it will be different with a child.. we both do. Im sure i will become more prepared throughout the pregnancy. Even if it is a bigger shock to the system than we expect!

Thanks for the heads up! xxx
