How windy is your baby?

My twins seem to have so much wind, I'm just trying to work out what's "normal". Poor things really struggle with wind and quite often struggling in their sleep too, arching their backs and squeaking. We do wind them after feeds, but it doesn't seem to be enough. I am talking about both ends.. they do the smelliest, adult volume trumps quite frequently too.

Sooo tell me about your baby's wind.

I have a very windy baby as well, I found that infacol worked quite well as she was suffering from trapped wind xx

Hiya. My little one is very windy..both ends!! We are also using infacol. I did try giving her some gripe water which they can have from 4 weeks old but it made her sick! Are you breast or bottle feeding?? My daughter is bottle fed and we have changed to the Dr Brown Options bottles..these are great and stop her taking in air and have noticed we don't need to wind her as much xx

My first had this problem and cranial osteopathy helped with wind too! Worth the money for more settled sleep if you can!

Oo great Boaz, we are seeing a cranial osteopath tomorrow as it happens! For their tight jaws, but hopefully they can help with the wind too! What sort of thing did the osteopath do? I am nervous for the appointment.

Amy they are fed breastmilk with a MAM anti-colic bottle. We were using tommy tippee but they were pretty awful teats so we switched and have seen some improvement. How often are you giving infacol? We were doing it every feed ish, but then stopped for a few days but I think we might need to go back to it. xx

Hi Laura, don't know if you will see this before your appointment but they did very gentle massage and pressed certain pressure points in head and neck. It looked very gentle and all mine have responded well to it. Make sure you say how windy your baby is as they may use different points in the body to help this.

Hope it goes/went well!

Yes I know what you mean about the Tommy Tippee teats..I first started off with the Avent natural bottles which are similar but my little one just couldn't latch on and there was loads of air bubbles! I give her infacol before every feed because my HV said it takes time to build up in their system. I give her 2 drops because she is quite colicky! I haven't given her the gripe water for a few weeks so I might try again. It's all trial and error...what worked for my first daughter might not work second time round xx

We have the avent natural bottles! Been wondering whether to try mam anti colic or the dr brown ones if her wind doesn't get better. Started using infacol tonight xxx

I find there is a lot of air bubbles too. Can that be the bottles then? Xx

I found with the Avent bottles that I had to keep taking it in and out to stop her taking in the bubbles! One of the other mums at school had told me about the Dr Brown bottles so when my daughter was 5 weeks old I decided to buy a single bottle from Boots to try and it was amazing..no air bubbles and she latched on so much better! They are the new Options ones where you can take the air vent out as they get older. We have been using them for 4 weeks now and have found she doesn't need winding as much and have really helped her colic. The only down side to them is that when you heat the milk up and are using the vent they can leak a bit because the warm milk affects the pressure but I have worked out how to stop this..you just adjust the tightness of the top! I looked at the Mam ones as well..maybe try buying one bottle like I did and see how you get on xx

Ooh thanks! I think il def try switching her bottles. I try wind halfway through but she gulps so quick and doesn't like me taking it out lol.
I have the prep machine so would they be ok with that with the leaking? Xx

I think we have a couple MAM ones I got when pregnant so will try today see how she gets on with those for a bit then the dr brown ones if needed.
It's only the 4oz bottles we have and the little monkey takes up to 5oz sometimes now lol but anywhere between 1 and 5 lol so will need to get some bigger ones xx

I've found the MAM ones really good so far. That plus infacol seems to mean less air swallowed, and what is swallowed is coming up more easily when we burp them. Got a couple of monster burps out of them last night, sooo satisfying!

Picking up some more MAM ones today as fed her from one of the ones we have this morning and defo noticed less air and foaming in the bottle etc.
Has infacol made anyone elses babies constipated? She was straining a lot earlier like she always does before a big poo but there was nothing xx
