Ok emily is 5 and a half months. Started her on solids about a week ago as she is a small baby and was happy with milk. Her appetite seems to of gone through the roof but I'm worried about over feeding? I tend to give her a jar (or Something i make and purée) in the morning then a rusk at lynch and before bed. So if she has a bad reaction to what I have given her in the morn I know what it is :) the problem is she still wants just as much milk!!!!!!

Any suggestions? What did/do you do???

I didn't think you were meant to drop any milk feeds for a while, not sure though as I haven't started weaning yet, so I'd like to know what others think about this too? X

Oh, forgot to ask, how many milk feeds does she have a day? X

No, don't expect to be dropping the amount if feeds just thought she wouldn't need as much per feed??? X

Lately she is having 200mls every 2 hours??!! Plus solids in between! I think that's alot! X

Wow that is a lot! Sorry can't really help x

Sounds like the milk isn't satisfying her. Does she go longer between feeds after breakfast? If she is then maybe she needs more solids ie; dinner and tea. Not sure what else to suggest sorry. Xx

I'd keep up the milk as I was told that most of the calories they get are from milk and that food is really just for fun before the age of 1 x

Thanks girls. She doesnt really go longer after breakfast than she does in the adternoon!

Should I put her on follow on milk for 6 months+?? She is just in the normal one as she has never been particularly "hungry" x

Herbie has just started weaning this wk as he just wanted bottle after bottle, he seems the same he is eating the baby rice rusks etc but still just downs his bottle like he has never eat a thing, I just keeping to this at the min as he is still young so I want him to have milk over anything else but I did think the food would keep him going longer but it dosnt seem to of made a difference
