Hi Everyone

I'm moving on Friday (wish me look as half the house still needs packing) and in the new house the nursery needs wall papering and decorated and i also need to choose and order the nursery furniture cots etc and decor such as zeddy and parsnip stuff. so i just wondered how long you all thought i should be leaving for this as i don't want to be rushed etc.

And can you all share where you bought your nursery furniture from and where you would recommend the suppliers?

Thanks

I'm nesting at the moment and I reckon I could have a nursery done in a day :rotfl:

We got a second hand mothercare cot and the rest of it from IKEA. We've just got plain white stuff because then it can be used as the baby gets older too. Argos do some nice nursery sets though.

Good luck with the move! I would get started on the nursery asap as you will get really tired towards the end and won't want to be bothered with it. We decorated our bedroom recently which involved stripping wallpaper and painting. It took about a week and a half I I think, but that was just doing it evenings and at the weekend.
We didn't buy any nursery furniture, just kids wardrobes from argos

We've been decorating for about 2 months but very slowly! We changed the skirting boards and everything ourselves and my OH is a bit of a perfectionist so it took a bit longer than most! We're getting the carpet fitted Saturday and then it's just putting the furniture in :cheer:
All of our furniture has come from Argos as we got a bit of a discount and needed to do it on a bit of a budget :D Tesco direct are also good.

We haven't started our yet  It going to be started soon though and we've got the furniture so I'm hoping it won't take OH too long  (it's only a little room) bedding etc is on it's way.

We ordered our furniture from 'babies r us' when the sale was on-it was pretty cheap compared to some places we looked at (about £350 for cot, wardrobe and baby changer) and we could take it in the car, so no waiting about.
it's plain white.

So...I'm not much help really...I'm prob about as organised as you...but I'm hoping...'not long' is the answer. :cheer:

We got cupboard from Ikea and cot from Tutti Bambini - they were at last years Baby Show and we got it as a bargain :) we did have to wait a few weeks for delivery though so start calling furniture places to make sure theres no long delivery waits :)

Hubby painted the nursery over one weekend. Then we had the carpet fitted, once those were done it was just a case of putting up curtains. I then made some black out lining (took me an afternoon). The furniture is a combination of Ikea Leksvik as they do a children's range in this furniture and a cot bed (mamas & Papas) and nursing chair (hauck) that was given to us.

It probably took us another day to build the furniture and put it in place and then it was just a case of adding accessories with curtain tie backs (which I made) and the cot bumper, cot mobile, cot toys, cot blanket and a few pictures on the wall. I went for the Mamas & Papas Gingerbread range for the cot.

We moved in to our new houes in January and have not worried about having the bedroom kitted out. LO will be in with us for a fair while to start :) We are not really into all the co-ordinated furniture and having everything matching on the walls. I kind of like bedrooms to evolve as the child grows, so prefer to have a mix up of things that are bright and colourful and not confined to one thing or another.

I also personally don't really like small furniture like kids wardrobes and prefer to wait and get adult size when the time comes. All our baby clothes, nappies, bath stuff etc is in a cubed thing and it fits it all with room to spare. I never hang kids clothes so don't need a wardrobe.

You can paint in a weekend. I never paper. Too much hassle, so can't comment on how long that would take

Furniture wise it depends if you want matching things or are happy to go for separates. Consider how the room will grow with the child etc and what will serve you longer term so saving pennies.

Baby is in our room (as it's the only one we have! We've gotten a changer table with shelves and pretty boxes - from babies r us and this tall unit thing with shelves and one cupboard - we got that from argos - it was with their office stuff!

Decorating a room needn't take long if it's just a coat of paint your after! We've got some wall stickers.

I'd say don't worry too much about specific baby furniture as they will grow out of it.

Will baby be in with you to begin with? If so then don't worry too much, once you've got the basic walls done you can always add to it

Our home is only 8 years old, and we had never used the baby's room, so nothing major needed doing. Hubby painted it over 2 nights, then we put up the zeddy & parsnip border a few nights later. Hubby put dimmer switch on (10 min job). That was about it really.

We ordered our furniture from Mamas & Papas (cot, under cot storage thingy, wardrobe, drawers with change unit on top) - pretty pleased with the service, although one piece had to be replaced as it had been damaged in transit, but they were very quick to sort this out. We ordered our glider chair from kiddicare.com (a dutailier one) and it arrived within 2 days of ordering.
