How does it affect me?

Hi there everyone -

Just a quick question really. My parents are doing some work on their house and they can't live in it at the moment. They're moving in with my Grandma and my sister wants to move in with me.

I don't mind her moving in, it'll probably be until the end of August, but I don't know how it's gonna affect me benefit-wise.

She's on a really good wage tbh, and could probably afford to move out on her own.

Is the best thing to do tell the benefit people the arrangement, have the benefits stopped for the month she is there and ask her to make up what I lose?

Any help is much appreciated, thanks

Personally, I would!! Honesty is the best policy and if she is on a good wage she can afford to pay your rent for the month!! xx

I would say ring them too! They may turn round and say that as its only a few weeks she counts as a visitor. Its better to ring them, find out how they want to handle the situation rather than not let them know and find yourself in trouble/debt because they found out

Not sure what i'd advise, but if you dont tell the benefits dept, you'd need to make sure she had no bills/letters or anything what-so-ever saying she lived at your address. If you do tell them you probs wont be entitled to anything at all, from weekly benefits to rent payments ect, because she'd be living at your address they'd expect her to cover the cost of your rent/benefits ect from her wages.
