I have done four home tests all negative, but my period is two weeks late, I have sore boobs which seem larger, nausia and sickness, am very tired all the time, moody and over emotional I had some spotting two days after my period which seemed lighter in colour than normal. I tested on the day my period was due, the day after a week after and the doctor did a test last friday with a home test all negative. The doctor told me it was highly unlikely all the tests were wrong and I am pregnant but to test again in two weeks and that it could be a phantom pregnancy. I wanted him to do a blood test but he wouldnt saying the home tests.
Has any one else experienced this? I really just want to know one way or the other, is there any thing else I can do?

Hi

How long are your usual cycles? Do you know when you ovulated?
You might've ovulated later and therefore the HPT aren't picking it up yet. Perhaps try a different brand of test? I used a First Response and it picked it up a week earlier than Predictor did.

I think with HPTs if you get a positive it IS realiable but they do sometimes give false negatives

Fingers crossed for you

when we were TTC i had exactly the same, i think i was just really wanting to be pregnant that much it cocked up my period, ended up having 56 day cycle when im normally 28days, i was gutted, had all the symptoms or at least i thought but wasnt pregnant!

but when i did eventually find out i was pregnant with this one, i had 2 tests saying i wasnt pregnant, and ended up getting 2 for £1 from poundland which said i was! went out and bought 2 expensive ones to check LOL which said i was pregnant

and with my 1st pregnancy i had negative tests until 7weeks and it eventually showed positive, it just depends how much HcG is in your urine, if the levels are too low it wont show up

Thankyou Lucy
My normal cycles are 28 days I dont know when I ovulated I wasnt actually trying to get pregnant. I used a first response test when I was a week late and the doctors use first response tests too.

I havent actually been TTC which is what makes me wonder about the phantom pregnancy theory which my doctor has suggested, I understand how wanting to be pregnant so much can make you actually think and have symptoms as if you are but although I would like a baby the timing isnt ideal and my partner is not ready so its not something I have been really hoping for at the moment to be honest at the moment it would probably be best if I wasnt pregnant but I just have this feeling that I am and I have never missed a period before ever or had these symptoms, I dont even get sore boobs before my period, its just so confusing, if I was pregnant I assume it would be from last month if my last day of my last period was the 28th July how many weeks would that make me if I was pregnant?

Hi there hunnie...
My doctor once said to me you can do home pregnancy tests which will say negative but you could still be pregnant....my friend did six home tests and the doctor did a test, they all said negative, it was only when her doctor listened to her tummy that they discovered an extra heartbeat, she was sent to the hospital for a scan and surprise surprise she was 22 weeks pregnant....she knew she was all along and kept telling them she was but because all tests were coming back negative the doctors kept telling her she couldn't be....so just goes to show, sometimes they don't know everything. Has your doctor done you a test? Maybe give it another couple of weeks and then do another.
Keep us posted hun.....

Thanks hun! I started spotting last friday hardly anything for a couple of days then got heavier so assumed it was my period abit early (was due on again tuesday just gone) or very late depending how you look at it, then got my test result back from doctors as BFN so thought nothing more about it. But bleeding is not like normal, lots of clots and will be a week since I started bleeding tomorrow, and I usually only bleed for 3-4 days on my period its getting heavier and heavier each day im starting to wonder if I really was pregnant and have had/am having a miscarage, am still feeling sick etc but bbs arnt as sore but as tests have all been negative cant see how I would know if it was a miscarage and think it makes me sound abit mad, it makes more sense that ive just come on! Thanks for the reply though, it is good to hear that a doctor actually admits these tests can be wrong my doctors wont hear of it!!!
