OH came in last night only to tell me he has been given a weeks bloody notice, as his boss can't afford to keep him on.

What a lovely xmas present eh! I am so fucking pissed off!

oh vicky i am so sorry this is awful news. will he be able to get another job easy? what does he do? like you say crap timing with christmas and baby nearly here.

Oh no! Gutted for you, I'm sure something will turn up, but that is awful timing

He's a mechanic to trade, so there's bound to be plenty out there, but it just couldn't come at a worse bloody time. Not got 1 single present in for our nephews or anything yet!

im so sorry hun

hopefully he'll get a job soon....

is he not under contract im sure 1 weeks notice is a bit harsh...

Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww :( This is going to sound really mean, but are you seeing them before or after Xmas? Wondering if you can make the most of the Boxing day sales?

Yeah he has a contract, and thats all he gets Lozzi, a flaming week :x

We usually give their presents to them on xmas eve so they have them in the morning to open them, hopefully he'll get something quick though, even then he'll still have to work a weeks lying time probably.

Also what happens with his paternity leave? I mean he can't be ina job a week and then take his 2 weeks off can he?

read his contract... surely they cant get away wtih ONE weeks notice..

Tell him to get straight to the job centre to try and get another job, but also, he's entitled to benefits till he gets a new one, sooner u get them sorted sooner you'll get money

Oh he has been told, his day off is a Monday anyways so i told him to get down the jobcentre first thing and see what's what.

really sorry vicki that sucks

hopefully he'll find something else b4 u have bubs xx

Vicki, that sucks that really does....

Dont know what it is with mechanics, but as you know my OH is a mechanic and he was let go from his old job last Feb with barely any notice, it seems to happen to most of the time in that trade, I dunno why!!

However, there always seems to be plenty of this type of work around, mechanics are always needed so hopefully he will get something soon.

As for paternity leave, if he gets a new job he will be entitled to it, but unfortunately it wont be paid as they only have to pay you if you have been in a job for so long as far as im aware...

What a bugger for this to come right on xmas. Dont feel bad about not being able to buy everyone the 'best' presents; people will have to understand whats happened and that your baby is your top priority. Thank good ness your getting maternity pay eh babes!

best of luck looking for something else. its good he has a trade like a mechanic though this has to work in his favour.

That's the good thing that he does have a trade that is always needed i suppose!

We were only getting our nephews presents anyways as our LO is due so close to xmas, but still....

Argh i'm just so peeved off with the hole thing, feel like going up to his work and telling them straight! Don't piss off a pregnant woman!

Yep, messing with hormones is LETHAL!!

Vicki, have you felt more hormonal now your at the end??

I have been terrible, been getting p*ssed off soooo easily by people and the silliest things have been winding me up!!

Oh god yes!! Plus talk about crying at the stupidest of things, it doesn't even have to be something sad, just something nice and i'll get all misty eyed

I thought it got better towwards the end!

Sorry to hear about this babes. What a nightmare!

Is there anything else that your partner woulod be willing to do?? Working in the local pub or something if he can't find any mecahnics work? I know our local is always after workers especially this close to crimbo and they don't pay bad either.I think some companies are disgraceful in the way they look after their satff I mean they know you are pregnant and are due soon and they know it is Christmas - and they still didn't care!

I could think of a few things to call them right now!!!
