Hey there...was wondering if anyone was considering or going for a homebirth and wanted a buddy..... :)

At the moment i am undecided between a home birth and a birthing centre birth all done naturally. Hospital is out of the question except in all but emergencies. With Isla I went to the local birth centre which is basically a nursing home with birthing pools, they dont offer any pain relief apart from gas and air (i hate the stuff) and the water.

The only thing i am not sure of is being away from Isla if i go to the birth centre, but then again at home i would be constantly looking at the things that need doing in the house and i am not sure that that wouldnt drive me crazy!

I also have a really irrational fear of not having birthing pool to hand, i am convinced that was the only thing that got me through Islas long labour. If i stay at home we can hire one and know we've got it ready and if i go to the birth centre they might not have one.

I am not sure about all the mess involved in having a baby at home especially with the bleeding afterwards in my lovely bed, and how Isla would cope with seeing me in pain.

On the plus side i have a midwife who actually suggested home birth as i coped well last time and am low risk again.

I just dont know what to do.

I am opting for a home water birth...as i've never had one. And if the after pains with my last are anything to go by....i doubt i'll get out.

MESS.....well you'd be surprised...the midwives give you a kit that you keep at home it has lots of (waterproof on one side absorbent on the other) pads (big x3 pillowcases in size) so you cover your bed or where ever with these. They are great. And the midwives tidy up any mess and leave you in bed fed, watered and cosy with your new bundle.

KIDS...Well i always want mine to see me in labour and give birth...they never seemed to take all much notice. But every time it has come time to give birth i can't let them in i like quiet but they have seen my placenta delivered and come in immediately afterwards...there faces are a picture filled with AWE . I always have someone on hand for the kiddies so my hubby can just focus on me.

As for the state of the house...i very often make some food do the dishes in labour it makes it go quicker and distracts me.

Decsions decsions, but whatever you decide i'm sure it will be perfect. xxxx

me, me me me me me pick me lol...

im desperate for a home birth... ive been told to watch my weight as i have a high bmi...but other than that things look good for it :)
last thing i want is a hospital birth wehre my husbands made to leave.. im made to ear, when they say, sleep.. poop.. ffs.. i just want to be in my own home.. i hope i get what i want :) will be great :)

LOL you cant be that much of a virgin :rotfl: :rotfl:

(Sorry couldnt resist)

OMG, no, never. Not for me LOL

I want to be surrounded by hospital stuff when I give birth LOL.

I'm a real scaredy cat!

LOL hope we all get the birth we want, and midna gets a nice soft calfin box.... :rotfl: (sorry i'm in a right weird one today)

Hey girlies...Well it all sounds pretty hopeful that we may have our so desired homebirth. I will be buddies with all of you lets keep eachother posted with progress.....

The breech thing ...i was breech with my last til the last minute but he did turn in the end....he was even transverse (sideways) in beginning of labour....So don't give up hope. It may happen again as i seem to have enough room for a spaceship in there

Love to you all and yer bumps

Am I too late to join in. I am hoping for a homebirth, hated being in hospital andf love the idea of being in my own space. Plus I can be with Seren too. I have to get the all clear from a consultant but I shouldn't think there will be any issues, i had a low risk pregnancy last time.

at the mo the only thing stopping me is my weight....but i dont see it as an issue..im gona a sk fopr my perv preg notes to be checked to see what my weight was with charl.. coz i weighed more 3 weeks after having ehr than i did when i got preg this time.. over a stone.. but then again im more than a stone heavier than that now.. lol.. nevermind..

If you have to see the consultant (is this the norm these days) then act rel sure of yourself and he'll agree i'm sure ...All my friends whop have been refused have been so cos they seemed unsure of themselves.GOODLUCK...keep us posted....

I put on tons of weight when preggers if its any comfort. I go from around 9stone to 11-12 stone...every woman is different i've never heard of it being a problem.....honestly.......whatever next....telling you to watch your weight when preggers....is that a joke :rotfl: And as long as your reasonably fit it shouldn't be a problem i mean if you get out of breath for example i can understand their concern.

Anyway.... do you think we should ask for our own homebirth section??? How do we do it...anyone up for asking????? It would make keeping in touch lots easier and we can have our alternative birth bit....what do you think???

oooppsa that last post came out all quoted wrong....computers argggghhhh
