High or Low Cervix?

Hello! (TMI warning)

I am starting to measure how high or low my cervix is to tell when I am ovulating/fertile. I have done a TON of research and there is a "knuckle rule" that women use to measure the position of your cervix. So, one knuckle deep would be low and the 3rd knuckle deep would be high.

Problem is I can't reach my own cervix with my own finger. Albeit, the first time I tried was yesterday. I had my husband do it last night for me with his finger and he was able to reach it at the very end of his finger, so I'm assuming that means my cervix is high? He said it felt more firm than it did soft. But this is our first time doing this so not sure what the difference of soft and firm feel like.

Can your cervix really be only within 1 inch of the opening? That seems like it would be too close and during sex the P wouldn't even fit inside without hitting it?!

I'm just confused on this whole thing. Does anyone else feel their cervix? What is your experience?

I started trying to monitor my cervix this month but I'd not thought about how far up my finger it was so I just had to go and test it now to see! I think I just ovulated yesterday and I have to go as far as in between my two knuckles to feel it. However I have found that I find it very hard to reach if I don't put a foot on a chair on the toilet seat or have one leg up in the air. It feels far too high up to feel if I don't do that. Does that make sense?

I also wondered how on earth there is space during sex when it is so low but I think its because its actually to one side, or gets pushed back?! I never thought about any of this stuff before TTC...

Yea, I just tried it again standing up, squatting, with one leg up, haha and I still could not feel mine!

I also just read that your vagina expands 200% when you are turned on, so maybe that is why sex doesn't hurt when your cervix is low. It just naturally expands.

Mine is very much sometimes pointing to one side - have you tried feeling towards the sides as well as the top? Maybe your natural position is just really high? When its been at its highest I've really struggled to reach it. X

Also I've not done a full month of finding my cervix yet so I'm not sure how low it might go now! Also it always feels open, its not felt shut yet

I have and didn't feel anything. My husband said it was straight up there when he felt it. It could be that my natural position is high, which sucks because then I won't ever be able to feel it. I'm gonna start checking every other day.

How can you tell if it's open or not?

Its hard to describe but it kind of feels like there is a small opening. Its almost like a little nub with an indent in the middle where it feels open. Have you tried to find it at different times of the month? I'm not sure its helped me work out too much yet about my cycle to be honest, but I'm going to keep trying!

I just started doing this yesterday. I'm going to keep doing it for awhile and maybe one of these days I will find it on my own! haha

I've never been able to reach mine, think it must always be too high as I have tried at different times with no success. Midwife had trouble reaching it too so it isn't just me being stupid. Yours might be the same.

This is very interesting hope you Ladies don’t mind me replying to this post but it really makes me realise how little us guys know about the whole TTC & I never knew about all these changes & the 200% learning all the time.
