Hi

Jacob has settled into a rountine, but I cannot get him to sleep or nap in the day. He is ready for bed at 8.30pm (bath everyother day) has a bf feed at 9pm and sleeps till 12ish has another bf feed and sleeps till 5am or 6am. He is so grumpy and tired in the afternoon. Do yur lo sleep i the day if so for how long? He bf's 3hrly in the day and somtimes 2hourly 5pm on wards.

I just wanted to say wow what a great routine you have for such a young baby  congrats aswell with the bfing youve done great.

When Olivia was 2 months she did sleep during the day, I just put her in a sling and she would sleep a good few hours. How about trying that?

or a walk in the pram or a drive in the car?
Louie is a bugger & will rarely go to sleep with out going in car/pram or falling asleep on the bottle, i know how hard is is.
good luck.xx

nope he won't sleep in his pram or in the car :wall:  lol. I have borrowed a baby bjorn and he will doze in that. I have been looking at hotslings.

I had to train Leorah to nap and it only took a few days. I started to look for her tired signs, yawning, eye rubbing and the start of being ratty. I would then bundle her up in her snow suit and put her down to sleep in the conservatory. Before she was getting overtired and then couldn't sleep or if she dropped off would wake up soon after going down. Our nap routine is now putting her in her pushchair when she sarts rubbing her eyes and then I wheel her out in front of a bush in our garden where she watches the birds and falls asleep. I'm in Denmark and all babies nap outside and you hardly ever hear of babies not sleeping in the day, in fact its quite often only Leorah up when we have our mother and baby group!! If you can try and get him to take a nap outdoors, if you follow the routine for a few days he will soon catch on. Leorah used to fall asleep as soon as one leg was in her snowsuit!

You can probably work out Jacob's awake time if you can dedicate a few days to it, at that age I was shocked as I realised that Leorah would feed and play and within 45 minutes was ready to go to sleep again. She can now stay awake for 2-2½ hours. It seems unbelievable but as soon as she was taking regular day naps she started to sleep better at night. Don't get me wrong it all goes cranky when she's ill/teething/ we have visitors or are out but it has improved so much from those first few months when she just didn't sleep!!

Good luck and PM me if you want more info :D

Thanks Skatty. I will give that a try. Jacob's problem is when I try and put him down for a nap he just cries and he is too little to be left to cry it out. He will sleep if I lie on the bed with him. I keep on with a mix of both and see how he goes.

At that age Logan struggled to go off by himself so we rocked him to sleep when we saw that he was tired, now he falls asleep in his bouncer in the day!

I agree with Lyndsey about getting a young baby to sleep however you can. Do you have a swing? They are meant to be very good, he'll feel so much better if he can find a way to nod off in the day :)

well done! ive never had any of mine in a routine by that age.
i suppose i did with my first but its easier with your first
