Alanna had a good feed this morning about 8am (its now 3pm here) and she just will NOT go on the breast! She is screaming hungry, and has now worn herself out completely and gone to sleep.

A few times ive put her down and she will lie there happily chewing on her hands looking at me like she normally does when she is hungry.. But if i pick her up and put her toward boob, she starts screaming and pushing away with her hands, turning her head etc

I tried just putting the nipple in her mouth and holding her there but she just screamed around it.

She wont take a bottle atall, as soon as its too her mouth she does the same thing.

I managed to express a little bit (No pump BAH) into a bottle, then poured it into her mouth like cup feeding. But it was only about half an ounce.

What do i do !?

Hmmmm, not to sure what this could be i'm afraid. I know it's a late reply, hope you both found some help.

I'd suggest colic maybe? Evie was like this for a few days and after giving her a few doses of Infacol she was fine again.

Really hope you're both doing well now x

Infacol isnt helping her.. she was ok yesterday but has started this again tonight.. I have formula here now so if need be i will syringe feed her it bit by bit to make sure she is still eating. Thanks Tasha

when she pushing you away wait an few mins then keep trying she may just be being a bugger also change positions and swap breasts if she still kicking off go do something go for a walk with her then try again and if things dont improve have a chat with hv

Been trying all that serenity, its ending up with her just having to sleep from exhuastion with crying.. then when she wakes up a few hours later she will feed. Right pain though, She was up all day today, finally went to sleep at 9pm.

And i dont have a health visitor ;)

Any signs of thrush? I read somewhere that if baby has thrush of the mouth then it hurts for them to feed.

oh hon what a nightmare, Owen does this sometimes, but not til he was a little older than your LO. seems to be due to a cold and a little tooth he has coming up.
Can only suggest same as other girls really but here's my experience;

One thing I did do was had LO lie on the bed and he eventually fed with my boob dangling down into his mouth, seriously, I felt like a cow or somthing but he was eating!! Also, not sure if LO takes a dummy but often owen has been refusing to fed in the middle of the night during his usual night feed, sometimes if I give him the dummy, pull it out and kinda 'shove' him on nipple a few times he will evetually realise he's hungry and latch on.

Hope it gets better x

no sign of thrush, she took a bottle last night (breastflow are SO much better than TTCTN!) and kept that down (aptamil comfort).. but is throwin up breastmilk >.< right pain. but im determined! lol

Ella did this after her injections. It lasted a good few days but she's mostly ok now. I did read somewhere that babies can do this when they are established at feeding as they just aren't so hungry so maybe your little one is crying cos she's tired and not hungry? It's so hard to know what they want, would be so much easier if they could talk lol! Good luck hun x

has your diet changed recently. Oscar is a bugger if I drink orange juice??

Thats true.. my diet has changed a LOT since moving.. i dont know what i could rule out as the difference though.. Bah

Yeah she has Reflux and is on domperidone and ranitidine for it.. but it never stopped her wanting the boob before :( she seems to be happier now that im topping with formula though so im sticking with it, and she doesnt bring that back up atall, where as she ALWAYS brings up breast milk.

If she was brining the breast milk back I would suggest it is something to do with your diet, my eldest used to projectile breast milk back, I stopped drinking fizzy drinks and it stopped. Didn't drink anything fizzy with my 2nd and she kept it down (but brought it back if I ate frozen yoghurt). Hope she's ok.
