I got a second interview :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:

and I have to give a presentation - no problem as I've given loads before

except

"the presentation is to be on a subject of your choice"

what should I do?

the job btw is a training job working with people trying to get into employment.

Miiiiiiiiiiiiinxy!!!

edit.... good luck by the way :D

Hay!!

They'll be looking at the delivery not the subject surely?? So look at it back to front.

Make sure you include something visual (Powerpoint), have sound/music playing and invite interaction so your audience does some sort of active learning.

Have everything backed up with handouts for them to take away....

Question is, what do you love/know enough about to be able to deliver across all these mediums? I'd make it fun and different, not too heavy.

Just off the top of my head.......

Harry Potter? Include it's impact on children's literacy if you want to make it more 'meaty'?

What the libraries offer your community? You could do that standing on your head surely?

:D Thanks Minxy
Libraries in the community one sounds good - and yes could still do it standing on my head :D

they may worry about me with the Harry Potter one  :rotfl:

I know they'll be looking at the delivery - was just worried that they'd also judge on the content - but guess they'd give us a brief if they were :? So I'll get powerpoint fired up over the weekend and see what I can come up with :D

Ive done a few over the years and I would highly recomend taking a well know acronym and changing its meaning to something relevant.

One example, I done a presentation on PMT at a managers meeting before we introduced a load of new products, it was Prepare, Motivate, Train, and dealt with how to prepare staff for the changes that would come with the new products. Went down very well as they were all women

:rotfl: :rotfl:

I've done loads as I used to be a manager and trainer - but ti throws you when someone says on anything you want  I have to call back on monday to arrange the time of my interview (something else I've never done - they usually give you a time  ) and I might have a quick word then just to put my mind at ease that they won't be judging the actual subject - not that I'm paranoid or anything

There's 15 posts available so I'm hoping I'm in with a good chance

I was going to suggest that :rotfl:

You could do diagrams and a demonstration...

The one I had to do for my first E2E post was on 'the senses'.

We didn't know we were doing it, just turned up for a open day and there was a table with lots of stuff on (pom-poms, herb sachets, kazoos), just junk really.

Each candidate had to grab what they could then prepare a five minute presentation to be delivered to a group of real-life learners.

I went for a lot of interaction, and asked for volunteers to be blind folded to guess smells/tastes etc. It went well and when I was offered the job the feedback I got was that my presentation showed the most humour and other applicants seemed a bit uptight.

So relax, have fun with it and you'll fly through. Good Luck (and we can be your guinea pigs :cheer: )

They wouldn't forget me - think they might guess I'm TTCing tho :rotfl:

I'm glad humour is good - I never managed to get through a training session with a serious face all the way through
