Just when ever i get my baby weighed they convert her weight into lbs and ounces, and when i get home and convert it on my phone its different. like last week my daughter weighted 4.25kg which is 9lb 3oz they told me 9lb 5oz.
i had the same thing when oliver was born. his weight was 2440 g (cant remember exact figure) and they converted it to 5lb 6, but when i do it i get 5lb 4. i just go by 5lb 4
its because kg is a decimal measurement... i.e calculated in lots of 10 and Lbs/oz is imperial counted in lots of 16. So when you convert 4.045kg for example, you get 8.9lbs.... but thats not 8lbs 9oz...its 8lb 14.7oz... ... which is often why there is a confusion over weights. Modern calculators are based on a decimal system
A more complicated way is to go to google.com and type "4045g to oz" (without the quotes) and it will return 142.683176 oz
Then enter 142.7/16 and you get 8.9
142.5 -(8* 16) = 14.7
So its 8lbs 14.7 oz
so 4045g is 8lbs 14.7oz.... if you want to do it the hard way dunno why you crazy people don't just stick with decimal
