Hi guys, I have been having problems sleeping for the past few weeks because when I wake up during the night im getting severe back pain at the lower part of my back and then im tossing and turning all night because I cant get comfortable with it. Ive tried lying in all different positions and one of my friends who is pregnant suggested putting a pillow under the arch of my back and that doesnt seem to be helping either!! Anyone got any ideas? xx

Maybe get one of those proper pregnancy pillows - the dreamgenii ones look good (cheapish on ebay)!

I sleep with a pillow between my legs, and part of the pillow supporting my bump as I find sleeping difficult too, but thats because I now get dreadful pains in my leg joints, which also force me to get up really early every morning!

Oh the joys of pregnancy :D

Hope you find something to make the pain better soon.

Have you tried one of the pregnancy pillows, between your knees and under your bump? They are on offer in Lidl at the moment. Maybe a warm bath before bed would relax the muscles in your back?
At the end of my last pregnancy, I could only get comfortable practically sitting up.
Hope it improves soon

I could try having a bath before bed tonight and see if that helps. Is it the body pillow in Lidl for £11.99? Might have to pop in and buy one and see if that helps. Thanks for your advice I get frustrated when I cant sleep!! :D

I HATE going to bed at the moment
I have trouble falling off to sleep and getting comfy and toss and turn all night cause of the pain / uncomforyness (if there is such a word)

Ive got a wedge pillow AND a long pregnancy pillow but i find my teddy hels, i just tuck his legs under my bump and eventually i manage to get comfy enough to get to sleep (sorry - i know i'm sad to still have teddies  )

I don't think I could cope without my maternity pillow anymore, and to be honest, had I known about them before I fell pregnant I would have had one for years!

I know how you feel. I am up every 2 hours in the night to go the loo, and then having to go work a full day. Its killing me! Doesnt help that once im back in bed it takes me forever to go back to sleep. Constantly exhausted now. Countdown to the xmas break now started..... 2 whole weeks of sleeping i think! LOL

It's pants isn't it? It changes as you get bigger too- at one point last time I was sleeping on 7 different cushions, I had to rearrange them every time I got out of bed to go the loo- boy was that popular with my OH :rotfl:

I'm putting a small but puffy scatter cushion between my knees at night as the moment and I'm raised up with a V cushion as I've got back pain too. I think you just need to experiment, those pregnancy pillows are great though although I ended up using it more like a boundary between my OH and me in the end last time as I couldn't roll over with it so had that on one side and other cushions on the other! You can get very cheap small cushion inners from Wilkinson's (about £1- £1.50) which are squashy but small enough to get under a bump without being as big as a normal pillow.

Hope you get some sleep!
