Came up to bed with Harry at half 10 fed him and finished around 11 but since then haven't been able to put him down to sleep in his crib

He's fine lying on his side feeding but seems to suffer with wind, and it mainly comes out as loud trumps. But until they come out if he's put on his back the knees go up and he starts whining.

He also seems to be non stop feeding tonight. I'm tired but it's making hubby frustrated as he can't do anything about it. This then gets me mad. I know he's worried about me and the lack of sleep I get but I kinda accept that I won't be getting any

Not sure what to do for the best for Harry. He doesn't seem to suffer during the day he'll just fall asleep after a feed and then go down

We've raised one end of the crib to try and help

Any other suggestions? Xx

Aw hun, I don't have any suggestions cos I have the same problems really. Plus vomiting.

It's so frustrating because in the day they feed and sleep beautifully. I have a grunting baby here next to me who has woken early tonight for a feed. I know she wont sleep now.

Chin up, you are doing wonderful xx

I think both of you are doing a fab job! My hubby has just decamped to the spare room and that's just because Evie is having a little bit of a grumble - nothing like what the two of you are facing! Could you put Harry down to sleep on his side? Evie has slept this way since she was born (her choice) and the mw said it was ok as long as she had an arm out to stop her rolling on to her stomach? She just won't settle on her back and I think that's something to do with the wind she suffers from.

I'm still up. It's so frustrating, why can't they just go back to sleep???!?! I'm not going to get any kip at all now

We managed an hours sleep he's been back on the boob now for a good 20 mins but in bed so I'm still lying down

Tempted to try him in his side but so scared about it

Vicky did you say Tilly slept on her side with blankets? Xx

Are you able to get any help today so you can catch up on some sleep? sending you big hugs xx

It does get better trust me (then again I just gad to deal with a leaky poo and totally change Tyler lol)

My OH started sleeping on the sofa, can your OH do that? Then he can sleep now and tomorrow you nap when baby naps. It is very important and you need to do it in the early days. Make the most of your OHs willingness to help. Your sleep is very important too!

Roll a blanket up and put one either side of her so she can't rOll onto her tummy.

I know how u feel about the constant feeding, Henry was attached to me from 8-11 last night :( he has just woken up and been going 10 mins so far. Hope it's not another epic feed or I'm gonna be shattered tomorrow. He sleeps so well now as he sleeps on his tummy. I have an angelcare monitor so I don't have to worry about him. He is much more comfortable on his tummy cos of his colic and sleeps 5+ hours in one go. If Harry is more comfortable on his side let him sleep that way. Both of u may get some shut eye then.

Good luck xxxx

Thanks girls may have to give the blankets a go

We're back on the noob again in bed with us as its so much easier. I swear what goes in my boy at one end comes straight out the other as either really loud farts or explosive poo!!

I always put Tilly on her side yes, she hates being on her back.

I wedged her in position with blanket, not near her head though, one along her back and halfway up the front.

I have not had any sleep since 1.30. I'm properly fed up

Mmm since 11pm I've counted up 3 hours sleep

I too am properly fed up. Just fed again and now he's asleep on my lap. Going to attempt a transfer to the crib and get some blankets

Sam was exactly the same in the early days, it's still scary for them and need you as much as you need sleep! Sam now sleeps from 8-12.30 when he has a feed and then goes till 5.30 ish and then goes down till 8.
This is what I found worked and trust me I tried everything

Firstly I think your trying to get him down to late, we used to do 10.00 and it was too late for both of us as usually by then I was exhausted and would feel cranky. I now go to bed at 8 with sam (I could set up monitors but I like the excuse)

As soon as you can use sleeping bags, they are awesome easy to change nappies and also I found they help to prevent the baby waking up due to temperature changes from feeding and being snuggly on you to being put in the cooler Moses basket.

Elevate the Moses basket at the head by about two- three inches

It is hard and sam would wake every two hours for feeds but that's their way of sorting supply etc.
Like others have said it gets easier but try loads of different things and if it doesn't work first time try it again later on and diff combinations.

:hugs: xx

Thanks all x

Just wasn't sure what difference going upstairs any earlier would make cos he has no set patterns at all with feeding or sleeping cos he's so young?

Is the theory whatever he's doing go upstairs about 8 and get him into bed?

We have elevated one end of the crib.

God this is so hard and I knew it would. Just have to accept its trial and error I guess xx

I don't think going up earlier will make a difference as long as you are going up when he's tired at that age Tyler went to bed pretty late and gradually over time he's brought himself forward. Might be worth taking him in and feeding him half an hour earlier maybe? See if it helps but I think 8 will be too drastic.

But at the mo he's obv feeding on demand so not sure when I'd pick to go upstairs with him ?

Not bathing him really at the mo cos his skin was very dry cos he was so overdue so can't use that as part of his routine.

Try olive oil on it worked wonders on Tyler.

I used to take Tyler into bed with me at 9 and offer him food. He'd usually be off by 10 but he naturally started fussing earlier than 9 and falling asleep earlier than 10

Thanks pinky will try that feeding tonight.

And we've been lathering the boy in olive oil since we got home and he really quite likes it (most of the time!!)

Do u get him up to feed? The hours I've saved of sleep feeding him laying down in bed is rediculous. I lay him on a muslin then when he's asleep pick him up under the muslin (direct contact doesn't seem to wake him as much) and put him back to bed.

Can't type much as oncrappy phone but just like has been said side sleeping is good, my son was always a side sleeper, really struggled on his back. Also when they are windy they will feed more thinking its hunger, so gotta try find the best technique for your lo to wind him, will make a big difference xx
