My daughter's hair is really long at the front and my OH wants to get it cut into a fringe to keep it out of the way. I am really reluctant to get it cut yet, especially as I dislike fringes on myself so am loathe to give her one. When did your LOs have their first hair cut?

He was 8 or 9 months ish, it was going in his eyes so we buzzed it all off and kept it in a keepsake box. I cried!

We waited until he was at least a year. He never really had enough hair to need it done before then. Even now he's two I don't cut it often, I think he looks really sweet with it long and shabby.

Could you not just out some clips or a hair band information to keep it out of her eyes?

My daughter just had her first proper haircut today and she's almost 3.5 years old! Her hair's really slow growing. Up til now I've occasionally just trimmed the front to stop it getting in her eyes. She has curly hair so I don't know if it's easier to do this and not make it a proper fringe.

My 6 month old has toddler length hair as she was born with a full head of 3cm dark brown hair all over. I have no plans to cut it and will just use clips to keep it out the way. In my opinion fringes usually end up looking way too harsh on babies as people seem to jus cut straight across! People keep saying to me 'oh she'll need a haircut soon' and it really gets on my nerves! x

B had his first hair cut at 7 months as it was getting in his eyes, we've had it done every month since as it grows quick.

I do use clips, but OH doesn't like them and we can't send her to nursery with them as she pulls them out. Most of the time we just brush it sideways, but it doesn't stay there. It's down past her nose when brushed forwards so probably should be cut, but I really don't want her having a straight across fringe!

I took my lg to Toni and guy and they cut her a stunning side swept fringe with shorter and longer bits to stop it looking like it had been cut. She was 13 months at the time :) x x x

My little boy came out with a head full of hair when born everyone comments on it, he could have done with it cutting from birth lol no way I would be thinking of having it cut when he is so young though

Vi is 19 months and hasn't had a haircut yet. Trying to keep her hair under control using hair bobbles at the moment. Think we'll hang on for a bit yet. It's just about manageable. x

Noah is 2 in July and still hasn't had his haircut.
Its onlyjust started growing in the last few months.hewas a baldy for ages and even now its very fine! X

Do you think they would be more frightened of it the longer you wait?

No idea?
Im only waiting cos theres sod all to cut off lol

Josh has had 4 haircuts including his fringe, he was awful for the first, fine for the second then awful again! His first one was just after his first birthday. I don't think it makes a whole lot of difference to be honest,. Food was a good distraction! xxx

Emma is 16 months and does the same thing with pulling out hair clips. I use those tiny hair ties now. She can't get them out. I used them with my older daughter too, and we never had any issues.

I think it depends. I have a hairdresser come to my house as it's cheaper and more convenient, so my daughter's always seen me have my hair cut. When I asked her if she wanted her hair done this week, she said yes immediately and sat really still while it was cut.

We had to shave LOs hair due to religious reasons.
It started growing back but into a mohawk, We shaved his hair again 3 Weeks ago.

My eldest had his first hair cut at 11 months. His hair grows upwards! He was born with spikey hair lol. It gets cut every 6 weeks now because it has to be kept short. My youngest is 2 years 3 months and has much slower growing hair. I just used to cut bits off when they got long but last week we decided to clipper his hair on a no.6 and we're really glad we did! Now it's all one length and nice and tidy :)

My daughter is getting her first haircut tomorrow at 19 months old. It is really curly so had to wait ages for it to get to a reasonable length so cutting it won't make it half way up her head haha! I am fully expecting her to throw a hissy fit though as she won't even let me put hair clips in without going mental - good luck to the hairdresser that's all I can say :/ x
