Has anyone done a cross stitch 'stich-a-photo'?

I got one of these for Christmas, and I want to send it off soon.

I want to stitch a pic of the kids, i got some nice ones from the photoshoot i had done, but i dont know if it would work with the type of pic it is. because there will be less detail with them further away, than just one child on their own.

has anyone done one and can advise on what type of pic would be good to use

I've done one. It as my parent's wedding pic for their 25th wedding anniversary. They got it on the 28th It does look good though.

Not sure one picture advice. All I'd say is that there's a lot of colours, and you tend to get one stitch in a shade and the next one is inches away It was a very long slog. It's a bit 'Magic Eye' up close so maybe a pic with them further away would work better?
