Do any of your little ones have a haemangioma? Fin is going to see a specialist as we think he has one on his nose. I'd love to hear your experiences if any of you know anything about them.

Sorry I'm not to sure what one of them is  Do you mean like a strawberry mark?

if it is a strawberry mark, alice has one on the back of her head.

both my cousins had them when they where born, and they faded

If it is a strawberry mark Aimee had 3 of them. She had 2 on her back and one on her belly. Only one was quite big. They 1st started coming up at 8 weeks and it was when the GP pointed it out to me at her check up I first noticed it. He said they usually start going when they are 2-3 years. Aimees was at its biggest when she was about 8 months then they started going. Now at 18 months they are almost gone, they arn't raised up at all now more just a light red mark left. Sorry for going on if it wasn't what you ment.

Molly has had one on her back since birth. I was told it would fade by the time she's six but she's four now and it's not changed at all.
It's very sensitive, I alaays have to be careful when dressing her, and I always put loads of suncream on it in the hot weather.......

A haemangioma is as far as I'm aware a collection of blood vessels which passes from the placenta and lodges somewhere on the baby. It grows for a period of time into a lump and I think it may disappear eventually? I believe it is a kind of birthmark. Fin's has got more pronounced and I don't want it to keep growing. :(

if its a strwaberry mark emma has 2 one on her head and one on her arm the one on her head is going down and the docs said they usually go by the age of 5

luke has a large one on his side that seems to be getting darker and growing with him. he also has faint one on the back of his head that we have noticed since he lost a lot of his lovely hair

i hope the one on his side fades by the time he goes to school i don't want him to be teased. sounds like they are common though.

My baby has got a haemangioma. A red little mark came up about four days after her birth. If your baby is born with it then it will not go, if the mark come up after the birth these ones dissapear later on around 8yrs old is the longest it will b around. They grow fast in the 1st 6 months then have a slow dwn period. My baby has recently had a blueish lump come up around/under the red mark. The Dr said it was a bleed under the skin and has referred us. I myself have read up on a nhs page and what i have decribed is what they call a combination. There is a drug call propandolol which has been used since 2007 which shrinks the haemangioma. Hope some of this helps. x
