Hi,

Had my growth scan yesterday, baby still measuring big. Head is measuring 40 weeks, abdomen 38 and legs 37. They're estimating her weight to be 7.5lbs at the moment. They also said the fluid was still increased but noone will explain why! They wrote polyhydramnios in my notes and my fluid index is 27cm but didn't explain anything to me so of course I looked it up and now I'm worried. Have an appointment with my GP next week, hopefully she will explain things to me.
On all the scans we've had baby has looks fine, no anomalies have been detected, I don't have diabetes (although recently I've been craving sugar - wondering if this might be the cause?).
They said I've got to go back in 2 weeks for another consultant check when they said they'll discuss induction dates. I guess if there was anything wrong they would have kept me in.
Doesn't stop me worrying though.

There might not be an explanation as to why you have more fluid than others.

FWIW my LO was measuring big at both my growth scans, estimated weight and measurements. I didn't have excess fluid though. I did have a natural birth however with large baby (9lb 15oz).

Are they talking induction because of fluid levels? Baby size? Or both? I know Tilly had masses of excess fluid, supposed large baby and she went a bit overdue and also went into labour naturally. I'd do some reading about going into labour naturally and induction on all counts and see what you think about both options.

Yep I had excess fluid and supposedly big baby. I did soak the midwives when I gave birth and was leaking fluid ALL day when I was in labour but other than that I had no probs. Its great you dont have dibetes and there are no anomolies. Some women just have more fluid than others hun and its nothing to worry about. I remember I was soooo worried when kept having scans etc but it was all unecessary

I have a big baby and excess fluid...They worry more if bubs is small tbh. If scan says baby is healthy, then the water is not a prob either :)

I am being induced in two weeks. I think that it is due to the fluid, baby size and SPD. My SPD has become severe, and I do not think they want to risk causing me more damge than need be (plus she may have guessed I was going to beg! )
