ive been addicted to diet coke for years.. and im ashamed to say that ive still be drinking loads since ive been pregnant.
ive started to feel really guilty because of the caffiene in it
please somebody reassure me :(

I love DC too but since I found out I was preggers I have cut right down to at the most one glass a day. I have replaced DC with other drinks like orange squash and barley water. I find that any carbonated drinks really give me indigestions and bloating  ...I think it's bubs telling me what he/she thinks of the DC!

I have to admit i'm the same, I love the stuff. I try to get packs of caffeine free diet coke but its not always easy to find around here. The only other thing I drink is de caffeinated tea.

i askd my mw about dc, she said its fine, but dont drink ordinary, just coz of the sugar, she said coffees worse than coke.

I dont think you need to feel guilty, if you are generally healthty and eating/drinking ok - i wouldnt worry about a little Diet coke.

cant u drink caffine free, mind u my baby takes after me and gets high on the sugar so ive limited it down now.

just too much pain down below.

coop and tescos do it think other ones do. tescos do their own. coop used to but werent selling as good as coca cola.prefer the cheaper one tho :(

I was the same too. Try decaf coke, or if that fails then at least make sure you're still getting plenty of water too cos otherwise you'll end up all dehydrated without realising it, and your kidneys might start giving you gip. x

yeah, you can get caffeine free diet coke and it tastes just as good as the other one.

I'd swap if it was me, don't want a hyper baby!!

how about coke zero? doesn't that have no caffeine?

I thought that was just free of normal sugar (although it's packed full of other things which could be worse), rather than caffeine free? Not that I've investigated it, I only drank the odd Dr Pepper plus maybe a normal coke, but the thought of either of them repulses me currently. I've gone off coffee as well. All I manage currently is a cup or two per day of weak tea, as that settles my stomach.

In your shoes, kimbo, I'd try and restrict my intake, possibly with a view to cutting it out altogether. Partly because too much could cause problems (although it has to be over 300mg for that, which I doubt you're having), but also partly because if you're feeling guilty about it then that will be increasing your stress levels which also won't help. Is there nothing else you really like drinking (which you can have while pregnant) that you could use as a substitute to help wean you off it?

Your not supposec to drink loads of it cos of the risks with low birth weight and in EXTREME CASES still borns.Yes i couldnt believe it either but shit me up enough to stop drinking it like a bloody camel!

Yes, this is where the 300mg limit comes in. I know that that amounts to two small cups of coffee or 6 cups of tea (and I'm presuming they mean cups rather than mugs, therefore equating to one mug of coffee and three of tea), but I can't remember the limits vis a vis coke.

There's all sorts of other crap in there that you probably don't want either in you or your little one too, such as additives etc. (I have a feeling that in Diet Coke they use aspartame rather than sugar which, as I've said is supposed to be worse).

But if you really can't do without then the odd can/glass is not going to be a problem.

As for me, pretty much anything fizzy gives me heartburn so I avoid it because it's uncomfortable!
