Hey ladies,

Any of you had to have this?

I had it done last week. I was dreading it, but it really was not as bad as I thought it would be. Although that syrup did make me feel pretty sick!

I am horrible to get blood out of so they had to stab me several times! lol.

Anyway I was told I would only get a call the next day if something was wrong and the phone has not rung! YIPPEE. Although I do think they should ring regardless as now I am just thinking they have forgotten me.

I will ring tomorrow to check!

xx

ive got mine booked in on the 31st aug, got told same as you, no news is good news, but got midwife booked 2days later cos she wanted to discuss my results, so now im sorta puzzled, lol

x

she is probably just being proactive because if you're anything like me you will want to know the ins and outs of your results! x

I have got it tomorrow. Hoping it won't make me too queasy as I have a very important trip to IKEA planned for later on in the day!! x

I had it at 32 weeks when mw thought baby was big for dates, that drink thing was a bit gross  but i felt fine after i ate something!
I was in hospital for a bleed at the time so i got my results pretty quick

turns out i have gestational diabetes, so now watching my diet :( rubbish!!

i didnt have to do one as i have to test my blood twice a day because of my bmi being high i have a very proactive consultant lols i also follow well followish the diabetes guildlines and my sugar seems to be fine i think you would have heard if it wasnt a good result

What's a GTT test ladies? I've never heard of it x

Is that the blood glucose test? I am due to be at the hospital having it now but after being admitted on Friday for bleeding and dehydration they thought it best if I don't start fasting and going without fluids even for 12 hours.

does everyone have this done?? never had it in other pregnancy xx

GTT is glucose tolerance test, to check for gestational diabetes,

im having it done because my BMI is 30,

but they did say at my local hosp that either high BMI 28+ or sugar in urine (which i havent got - or ever had)

so im hoping its all a big thing over nothing, im not realy looking forward to being at the hosp for 9.00am without any food from 10pm the night before except tap water, n then drinking lucozade and staying there until 11.00am, then they are strict at my hosp and have said unless you provide your own food for breakfast at 11.00am you will not be discharged, so gota remember to take a buttie!!

then the results are back within the day and *hopefully no news is good news*

but still going to see the m/w 2 days later just to confirm, ,lol

xxx

I've got to drink some lucozade before my 28 week appointment and then they will take some blood. It seems everyone gets checked where I am.

I had mine today and it was fine to be honest. Take a book with you though as you have to sit for 2 hours after the drink! The drink is a bit rough- reminded me of those awful cartons of squash we had years ago (the ones where you pierce the top with a straw!!) and it repeated on me all day! Apart from not liking blood tests anyway, it was fine. Felt a bit sleepy when I got home but she said that could happen. Results tomorrow apparently.
Pam x

Yeah mine was okay- the two hours went quite quickly. I had it done because of a combination of two factors - my BMI and the fact my Mom had gestational diabetes with me. Apparantly that makes you more prone to get it and also if you get gestational diabetes you are more prone to get type 2 diabetes later in life.

I didnt call the doctors today as i remembered i had midwife tomorrow so i am sure she will go over it with me.

I am having more blood taken tomorrow :( for my GTT they had to take it twice from the same vein....grr. at least it wasnt my hand this time.

hope you all get good results.
xx

I have midwife this Thursday and I know I am having some bloods taken - so I assume it must be for that!?xx

Nope that's just 28 week bloods hon- this one requires fasting and a special appt.
