My Lo is 5 weeks old and ebf (with 1 expressed bottle per day, which we give at varied times)

Of a night she often grunts groans and strains for ages as tho she is struggling to do a poo. Sometimes it's followed by wind, sometimes a poo and sometimes nothing. It'd hard to lie and listen, but not sure what to do (once she has been fed changes and cuddled to sleep). But starts this once in Moses basket,

She's definitely not constipated as she's pooing about 5 times in 24 hrs!

Does this happen to your lo? And What do you do?

Hi there

this happend to us, its wind im afraid, have you thought about doing a baby massage class and doing this at night before bed, also with expressing you maybe pulling off a bit to much of formilk than hind milk and this causes to bad wind, which they grunt and gripe at :(

xx

Yes happened to me, lo used to feed to sleep then would not burp when asleep (and I triied so hard!) So he used to get really bad wind...its not nice to listen to but should get better by about 2-2.5 months! Didn't help that I have a super fast let down so he used to splutter and choke...I used to giive him an expressed bottle before bed (usiing breastflow bottles which I highly reccomend!) Which made his wind a bit better, but he fed every 1.5-2 hours so by the morning used to be grunting away! Xx

Thanks for this .... She is now almost 7 weeks and it does seem to have for much better .... Last night she also slept for 6.5 hrs!!!! I woke up with an almighty hard boob, which she quickly emptied but didn't gave the groaning all night xx
