Not even sure if this is the correct place to put this. Apologise if it isn't!

Would it be wrong to take Aimee to the cinema? She is nearly 5 months old now and very well behaved. Loud noises don't scare her. We were thinking about going to see Madagascar tomorrow morning, would we even be allow in with her?

Yeah why not? They can't refuse her, thats ageist!

Is ageist a word?

:D

it is now...cos we said so!!! i always use it lol!!

I dont know to be honest, but some cinemas do a mother and baby morning...worth looking in to maybe xx

I don't know if baby could go in to see any showing at a cinema but it would be worth calling the cinema to find out. If they are allowed and they start crying obviously it would be expected that you leave in the same way anyone causing a disturbance would be.

I have taken DD to the cinema since she was a few months old. A cinema in town does a mother and baby showing every other week. She has never been bothered by the noise. She used to sleep through it but now likes to watch :D It is all mums and babies (with the occasional grandparent or dad) so there is no need to leave the screen if a baby cries as it is normal cinema volume so you can still hear and everyone understands about the crying. There's always someone pacing at the back or in the aisle :) It's really good! And you don't have to buy a ticket for baby :D And because they are expecting lots of pushchairs there is space made available for them.

I've thought about this myself before.
I'm going to call them up to find out as I fancy going to the cinema :)

I was reading the odeon website before I had Molly and it says that babes is arms can be taken in for free:

http://www.odeon.co.uk/fanatic/faq/

We try to accommodate babies as best we can, the majority of our cinemas will admit babies for U, PG or 12A films (please click here to check for special conditions regarding access for babes in arm at your local ODEON or ABC). We ask that you consider others when bringing your baby to the cinema, if he/she becomes distressed we request that you take them out of the auditorium. For babes in arms there is no charge, however if the child takes up a seat you will be asked to pay for a childs ticket.

I've taken both my kids to the cinema from birth. They just used to mostly sleep through the films on my boob, and the rest of the time they'd be watching the film quietly.

Then when they were around 8 months old, I had to stop taking them, because they got bored too quickly and didn't fall asleep as easily, so they would start wailing to be put down.

Then Lydia started being okay to take again when she was about 2 and a half.

So when Alex was tiny, we used to take him, but leave Lydia with relatives.
Nowadays we can take Lydia, but leave Alex with relatives lol.

edit : obviously you are only allowed to take babies to U and PG films. (not sure about 12A)

edit 2 : it is indeed free to take babies

at the cinemas near us it says NO babes in arms so i would check

what type of cinema is it? I've taken mine to Vue and Cineworld

Vue in Livingston does the mother and baby showings - I saw it the last time I was in so other probably do aswell.

A friend of mine is a manager at a cinema and he said it's fine as long as it's a pg etc.
