I've been off sick on and off the last week or so, i keep taking a day off and feeling like I could work the next day, go to work and then feel rotten again and then take the next day off :wall: I just feel so tired, I mean REALLY tired, I'm out of breath from just going up stairs, not from lack of energy but from tiredness. I just feel so weird! Last week at work it took me 10 minutes to do somehting that normally takes me 30 secs...that was when I knew I needed to go home!

I commute so far away, 45 miles one way by car, down the horrible M6 and M42, and I work as a physio so I'm on my feet all day every day and lifting patients and arguing with doctors  but it's only this last week I've felt this way. I WAS feeling tired before but nothing like this.

Wonder what doc will say? I'd love her to sign me off till maternity leave starts but no such luck I don't think! Is this tiredness normal? What ya think???

Helen

I'm off work at the moment. I just went to my doc and told her I was extremely tired. She has given me a sick note for 2 weeks, with 'pregnancy related tiredness' on it. As it's pregnancy related it doesn't go on my sick record in work. She also sent me for a blood test for aneamia, although I don't think I am. Have to phone for the results, should have been yesterday actually :? You may be aneamic and she may offer you some iron tablets if you are. Let us know how you get on xx

I never really found that the tiredness lifted during tri2 - in fact I remeber feeling absolutely drained at about 18 weeks but dragging myself into work anyway (student nurse - so on my feet all day too :wall: ) after a couple of weeks refusing to give in I started fainting - at work, on the way to work, at the supermarket  went to docs who signed me off and was happy to sign me off until maternity leave started.

I got bloods done which showed I was anaemic, I've been on iron tablets for 11 weeks now and my levels still aren't normal but the tiredness is starting to lift.... :D

See what your doc says, your not pregnant forever and a bit of time off will probably benefit you and baby

I've got this now, its onyl jsut kicked in but because i've been to a baby feeding class this morning i now cant do anything! I cant concentrate to even play tetrus let alone do assignments and i could easily sleep.

I mentioned it to midwife and she took bloods but my iron levels arnt low enough for tablets, they're jsut low for me  which prob explains it a bit. She also said it could jsut be another perk of pregnancy

Hmm clairedoran that's exactly what doc did for me, except I'm signed off for 7 days. She said that if I needed more time off I could go back and see her next week....going for blood tests at local hospital tomorrow and seeing midwife on thurs and apparently she can get results for me then.

I'm glad I went to docs today as I was feeling like I was at that point where I'm just so tired I could just sleep forever, I wouldn't want to get to that stage of fainting like you cinnamon!!

Now I can do lots of this -> but I know I will be sooooo bored :bored: hopefully I'll be able to come online lots :cheer:

I asked for a specific doc when I called, as she has more sympathy for us pregnant ladies, think thats why I got 2 weeks
I called after you posted, and i aint aneamic. Pregnancy can be very demanding on our bodies, so we defo need the rest. Enjoy your week off xx

Enjoy your week's rest hun and hope you feel better  This pregnancy lark really does take it out of you :D
