My obs said that sometimes scans aren't the most accurate and if a woman was pretty sure of her dates they would go with her dates to calculate the EDD. However, if there wasn't much descrepency (a week or two), they just go with the scan date.
Run with it, but you will know that your baby may arrive a little later than they tell you.
