Rebecca developed a bad cough and cold over the weekend and had a husky voice (which I assumed was result of a sore throat).

Yesterday morning I was getting her dressed for nursery when I noticed a massive rash all over her body. I thought it was a teething rash but gave the HV a call anyway.

She told me to take her up to the Weigh In clinic in the afternoon so a HV could take a look. (BTW my Bex is 6mnths old and is now 19lbs  )
The HV couldn't be sure what it was-viral infection etc. The thought of meningitous came into my head at this point. So I was told to sit in the waiting room and the duty Dr would see her.

Dr took a look at her and said it looks like German Measles  She is ony 6 months old, I have just been to a weigh in clinic surrounded by babies and mums 2 be! It's contageous....No nursery argh!

So he told me rest is the best thing 4 her (impossible with a hyper baby like her who wont sleep) How and when can someone confirm if it is dfefinitley german measles? The reason I ask is 2 of my work mates are pg and its very dangerous for their unborn baby's?

This sounds terrible (god forgive me  ) but since Rebecca has started nursery in June we have lost just over £500 on nursery fee's - her with gastric, conjunctivitous etc, still paying for her place even when she cant go is a nitemare! She has caught everything from the nursery! :wall:

I would write to the nursery or ring them to tell them she is catching everything from there (a few thing understndable, but all this is a joke) and that if other kids have german measles they need to be removed asap. Is there anything in the contract which says you can get your money back for this kind of thing? That or I'd cancel hun and just put her into a childminder. xx

Unfortunately nurseries are renowned for the spreading of germs and illnesses :( I wonder why the doc couldn't just give you a straight answer, seems a bit daft  Doesn't help you much does it :(

I hope Rebecca is better soon, poor mite :( It would be a shame to take her out of nursery as I bet she enjoys interacting with other children! I've been considering putting Ella in one a morning a week from when she's a year old so she can socialise with other children, it would be good for her to have a bit of time out incase I'm too wrapped up with the other baby and can't take her out as much as I'd like too.

Her immune system might be quite low at the moment because of the illnesses, I'd probably try to pump her with as much fresh fruit and veg as possible to get loads of vits into her. I know that helps me if I am going through a rundown stage!

 to you both :)

This is one of the reasons I'd avoid nursery's because of the germs everywhere. Such a shame. Hope she is better soon hun x

Thanks ladies..sami nurseries are renowned for viruses/bacteria spreading like wild fire.

Rebecca has appt again at Dr's at 16:40 2 get confirmation whether or not it is german measles as me and oh have been told not to go into work if it is -in can make men infertile and there is 2 people pg in our dept - we work in the same place.....

Oh yeah I know, I'm dreading the school years, at least you don't have to waste money though (or seem liek you were if they wern't there). Good luck for tomorrow and let me know how you get on xxx

It's in 20mins Sami hun, OH is taking her. thanx for your replies, it's appreciated..xxx
