my lil bro and sis always give carey a bit of there yoghurt, he absultely loves it. is it ok for me to give him it regulary? or should i wait until hes 6 months old? he has baby rice and veg and stuff just dont know whther too much is bad for him?

Have got some info here, most places say that "cow's milk (milk products such as yoghurts should be avoided in babies under six months of age if there is a family history of allergic conditions such as asthma, eczema and hayfever)"

There is some more advice on the link before. In general I think its fine but check the sugar content as some of them have stupid amounts in

Oh god, carey has bad ashtma, hes on syrup and nasal spray 3 times a day.. the yoghurt wont be helping! what an idiot!!!

thanks beanie x

i doubt that it will cause any probs with him just having little bits, but perhaps wait til he is 6 months. Don't worry am sure you would have noticed any probs, I guess its because before they re 6 months there is a greater chance of him developing an allergy to dairy, not that it would aggravate his asthma.

Hi

Just wanted to say Amy your not an idiot , you had no idea.

I was advised by the HV last week to give Aimee some yogurt and she is only 22 weeks, to try and get some more milk in her. She said as long as its made with whole milk and has no lumps or perservatives or additives its fine. Aimee has bad eczema too!

why are we tld different things, i have repeatedly been told not to give any dairy products til 6 months???

I know I'm a bit confused now! She said I can use cows milk in cooking from 6 months but its ok to give her yogurt and fromage frais now.

My HV also said it's ok now. He did say "plain" yoghurt, but I buy those petit filous with plain yoghurt on the top and fruit puree on the bottom.

The cows milk in cooking thing is specifically 6 months partly because it offers much less nurtritionally compared to formula. That's what my HV said at the weaning class anyway.

I have bought Jack some Danone baby yoghurts for 4 months+

They are tiny pots of fromage frais looking yoghurts but they are made with the same as baby milk and pure fruit puree.

He only has a couple of spoonfuls and Amy fiishes the rest, but they are different to the normal food they get.

i got told i could give kacy yougrts petit floues, (sorry can't spell) But you can get babies ones from 4-36 months and you can get them in boots with all the other babie food and superdrug, don't know about super markets

I got Jack's Danone 4 mths+ ones from asda, they are about £2.80 for 12

I had seen the fruit ones but not the yoghurt ones.

awww hunni u aint silly see wot ur HV says about it

B had excema badly and wen i asked bout it she sed it was fine
