Foot turn

 Karen xx I know so many babies that have turned out to just have extra chub on one leg, try not to worry hun, but definitely get it checked just to be on the safe side! And honestly, honestly, it's worse for mummies! K was about 16m when she went into plaster and bar her being uncomfortable at first it didn't bother her at all, she was always a bum shuffled and was speeding off again in days!

Ks case was a late diagnosis, it was missed at birth and 6weeks and then at about 6m my MIL happened to be round when the HV was there and said she'd noticed she stood funny when you held her up! HV checked her over and said she had an extra crease, but she couldn't feel anything wrong and she'd refer her just to be on the safe side! Got to 9m check and still hadn't heard anything, so asked only to be told there was absolutely nothing in her notes  so she eventually got diagnosed at about 11m with me heavily pregnant! I did end up lodging a huge, massive complaint with PALs due to various other things the HV didn't do! But it is really rare that they miss it!

I had it/ have it never got it fixed my mum had an argument with a doctor and never took me back. I get pain in my hips sometimes and can actually pop it out of joint intentionally (not that I ever do) as already said I'd try not to worry too much my kids had the scan to be on the safe side I was told at the scan all was fine luckily. These days it's treated often and surgery is a last measure. Im sure everything will be fine. X

Thank you so much, ladies, I'm feeling a little better about it and will just wait until she gets scanned before freaking out. You've all put my mind at rest a bit and reassured me that it's not the end of the world!!! I will cope with whatever happens - Tweety, I was thinking of you when I was feeling like this and thinking how strong and tireless you've been for Aaron through everything and I hope if Tilly has a problem that I can cope as well as you have.

I don't know how it's been missed, but honestly I've only just noticed it myself. I can't remember if her hips were checked at her 8 month check because my OH took her to that - I shall have to ask him.

Thanks again, I'll update when we know more xxx

Oh Karen sorry to hear you are worried

As a mum of a boy who has a load of surprises in him I can assure you that whatever it is you will cope fine.

I find the "waiting to find out what's wrong" a lot worse than something actually being wrong iykwim.

Hopefully it will be nothing and she just had designer creases in her legs. Let us know how you get on xx

Totally agree with you Tweety, once you know what you're dealing with its so much easier to cope with. We still don't know much about Harry's syndrome as we're yet to see a geneticist but its better to have a diagnosis. Hope it goes well with your GP tomorrow Karen and its a really good sign that Tilly is trying to move around xxx

Hi Karen, I've not been on here for a bit! Sorry to hear you're worried about little Tilly! Have you got a GP appointment booked?

I got my date through and Enid is having an ultrasound Monday the 3rd. Then we have an appointment to see a paediatrician for the 8th july (earliest we could get, we have to go to a different hospital or wait another month!). So I will let you know how it goes.

My GP did say it could be something that is fixed with physiotherapy so try not to think the worst for T! (Though I know thats hard!) I'm not so worried now that I have a scan date, how are you feeling now?
Xx

Hiya hun. Thanks, I've got a GP appointment today at 11am. I am just trying not to worry about it now until we see a specialist. Because of Tilly's age, she will probably have an x-ray, I think. I want it NOW, I'm so anxious and impatient.

I've got everything crossed for you that Enid will be OK or will just require a bit of physio to get her leg back on track. Glad you've got a scan soon - hope it's OK and keep us updated. Thanks for writing about Enid in the first place, or I might not have noticed T's odd legs until much later.
Lots of hugs
xxx

Thanks hun, that's really sweet. I think you're right about it being better once you know what you have to deal with. It's the uncertainty that's killing me :wall2: but I just have to be patient and not let my worry affect my enjoyment of Tilly. Hope Harry is well xxx

Hope your LO's will be okay ladies.

I have a problem with my hips. Got to be honest, I don't actually know what it was diagnosed as, but both my legs are turned in from the hip joint. Doesn't bother my hips at all, but my feet are turned in when I walk and it causes me to put more presure on the arch of my foot. I remember getting physio when I was younger, and my mum said at some point they wanted me to have splints put in my legs but she refused. I've also been to the pediotrist in the last few years and they gave me insoles to help but tbh it didn't really help much. It can be annoying, any shoes I get don't last long as they wear away on the inside, my posture aint great and sometimes it hurts my knees (not very often though) But I can walk and just get on with it so I'm grateful for that. Like I said, I don't know what the diagnosis was but just wanted to show its not always bad. Really hope its not serious for your babies

Thanks, Busymummy! It's good to hear of all different kinds of experiences - glad that your hips don't get in the way of you having a normal life.

Well, the GP had a good look at Tilly today, manipulated her legs and said that she pushed really hard on them and there were no clicks, grinding or clunking noises and the range of movement was good in both hips, so that was reassuring. She has referred us to see a paediatrician at the hospital, but that could be up to two months' time before we get an appointment. She said just to carry on as normal and not to worry unless something changes that we notice - like a limp/dragging crawl or further changes in her thigh rolls etc. I am still a bit anxious but hopefully I'll sleep better tonight than I did last night where I couldn't get my brain to shut down. I guess we've just got to pray that everything is OK for Enid and Tilly. xxx

Just caught up on this ladies, hope both Enid and Tilly are fine in the long run. There really is so much they can do!! Xx

I'm glad the doc wasn't worried Karen  tbh there'd probably be other signs by now too, when K got diagnosed so many things clicked with me that she did which were all signs! Keep us updated though!

Busymummy, sounds like you've got the same as my sister! We're all hypermobile with legs being the worst affected, but my sister's got something with her hips too where her feet turn in! We've both got insoles, although I don't wear mine cos I lost them  my hip clicks as well, but I've never had x rays on it or anything so don't know what's actually up with it!

Oh I'm glad the dr wasn't too worried Karen! At least you're on track to getting an appointment and finding out for sure.
It sounds like if there is anything wrong with either of them then they certainly aren't aware! Enid is such a wriggly bean and is always so active.

I hope you get your appointment through soon! Until then I suppose all you can do is remind yourself how happy Tilly seems to be :)

Here's an example of Enid's wriggling!

I barely wear mine anymore as I was wearing them constantly for over a year and really didn't feel they were helping =/

Think my daughter has same thing, her feet are turned in. She was referred to physio when she was starting to walk holding on, but we were told it would correct itself once she started walking properly. Well thats her jsut turned 4 and still happening so I'm going back x

Thanks, ladies. I hope there's nothing very wrong. MMGAI - what were the other signs that 'clicked' when your LO was diagnosed, please? I'm just curious - because T doesn't really crawl or walk yet, I'd like to know what to look out for before we see the paediatrician because the GP said if I notice other things that I should get in touch ASAP.

Kerry - Enid looks so cheerful despite being in that position. So cute and pretty! And her bed is adorable too xxx

Definitely take her back BM, you can never be too careful with legs and things!

The other things with K were uneven weight bearing, she always stood with one leg bent; never did anything in her door bouncer, in fact anything where they normally bounce; she never crawled, but bum shuffled which can be totally normal, but with her she just couldn't get her leg under her to crawl; not being able to pull herself up, she pulled herself onto her knees for the first time when she was over 1! In fact, she couldn't even stand if you placed her at something standing up! There's probably more too! All of those things though are things you wouldn't really notice, especially as a first time mum, but when I thought back, I realised it was all linked.

Best thing to do is just keep an eye and take a look at the steps charity website, it is rather daunting on there, but they have loads of info!xx
