are they safe to usewhen you're pregnant?
I know jacuzzis are unsafe and just wondered if Foot spas were the same

thankyou in anticipation. :D

i remember reading somewhere that footspas can bring on labour

Several say on the box that you shouldn't, although I don't see why not. You should avoid jacuzzis but I have dangled my feet in them all the way through......although all I wanted to do way jump right in!! Personally I would use it, but not with any essential oils - if you're not sure though you might want to check with your midwife before you do. :)

As long as you arent diabetic, are having no problems with your pregnancy and dont use any essential oils in it then there is no reason now to use one hun (im addicted to mine so i asked my midwife ages ago lol)

oh thatnks melanie!

*runs off to pinch mothers from next door*

The only reason you shouldn't use jacuzzu's is because the water is too hot and this can be bad for both you and baby. Although, you are okay if you only go in for a couple of minutes, and don't get too hot.

Foot spa's are therefore fine as long as you don't get them too hot. I have a pedicure every 2 weeks (my treat to myself cause I can no longer reach my toenails to paint them!!), and the salon I go to specialises in treatments for pregnant women. After removing my nail polish, and exfoliating my feet, she always leaves me for 10 minutes with my feet in the footspa. and it's lurrrrvvllyy!!!!

Enjoy it Budge!

My understanding of the situation is this:-

Foot spas shouldn't be used during pregnancy as they effectively massage the entire sole of the foot, and certain areas of the feet should not be massaged as it can bring on labour.

The reason jacuzzis should be avoided is because the same water is pumped around and around the jacuzzi, it isn't fresh, thus increasing the bacterial numbers and chances of infection. In public jacuzzis they combat this by using high levels of chemicals - but again, this is not good for the baby.
