We are due to go on holiday to Lanzarote at the end of this month, by which point I'll be 9 or 10 weeks pregnant. I'm presuming it's going to be ok to fly this short distance, providing I wear those flight stockings and make sure I'm drinking plenty of water. Would that be a correct assumption? Are there other things I need to bear in mind? I'm a bit worried about the radiation from going through the search thingy to be honest, although my husband assures me it's minimal.

I was told not to fly in 1st or 3rd tri - but best thing to do is to check with your Dr and they'll clear you to fly

Don't worry!

I am planning to fly at about the same time in my pregnancy too!

Like you say you have an increased risk of blood clots so stay well hydrated and try to move about a bit on the plane. You can also wear the lovely stocking things!

I don't think there is any problem with flying that I know of except that people don't like you flying after 28weeks or so.

Have a great holiday!

me too i go to cyprus in a few weeks, forgot to ask doc earlier today :?
I guess it would be ok, ive heard mixed reports tho.

I went to Lanzarote a few weeks ago and was told it would be fine as long as I drank extra water etc!

oh good, how far gone were you then? ill be 8 weeks.

im going away when im 9-10 weeks to.. it will be fine the only reason they dont like you to fly after 32 weeks is jut incase you give birth. the baby wont have a passport

we will all just have to drink loads of water nad be peeing all the time :rotfl:

Better get an isle seat...oooh hubby will be pelased i usually have the window seat and he doesn't get a chance of sitting there. :)

That's a relief! I'll just drink water for England, then. Cheers, everyone!

I was 6 weeks when I went. x

i thought u couldnt fly before 12weeks?

must be ok then u just cant fly after 27weeks onwards :p

check with gp and tell the airline people u going with cause they may not allow it :)

goodluck and have a nice time if u are safe to fly :)

I flew last week at 10 weeks. The doc said it was fine as long as I drank plenty. She did say check with the airline as some don't allow pregnant women to fly at the early stages. Enjoy your jolly hols ! :cheer:

Ive just come back from my hols im 7 weeks pg an was told it was fine to fly only thing is if ur suffering from morning sickness it will make it worse as i found out the hard way lol was sick goin an coming back an since gettin back my sickness has increased loads! All was fine though enjoy ur hol!
x

You're not meant to but i know pleanty of people who have flew in the 1s tri and all has been fine.

Due to pressure changes the risks increase slightly.... thats why you need a doctors letter after 28 weeks to tell your due date and that you are fit to fly...but you CAN'T get insurance after 32 weeks..... (i had to cancel my hols to Zante for September :x )

Drink LOTS AND LOTS of Water.... not fizzy juice as water is the best agent for helping the blood travel around your body......
wear you fancy socks... and walk lots back and forward to the toilet.... this will keep the blood circulating and with all the water you'll need to anyway :rotfl: Try sitting at isle seat too and stretching legs.... as there is alway that wee worry of DVT... But again these things are rare and why they hit the headlines...

But the most important thing about going on holiday...... is to ENJOY yourself... happy mummy's make happy babies

Enjoy Sweetheart.. lv Yvonne xx

p.s. make sure you take all the food precautions whilst on hols too.. no ice, no salad unless washed in bottled water... you know i am sure...sorry am just an auld worry wart fart... :rotfl:
