Im so upset / worried i want to cry :( i feel like a hormonal mess

Ive just got back from the hospital, and LO was playing up again. Her rate dropped a couple of times on the trace and worried the Midwife enough to send me for an emergency scan to check the blood flow to baby. The blood flow was fine, but the amount of fluid around her is reduced. Ive not had any leaking that i know off, and they did an internal exam and said that my cervix doesn't look like it is leaking. Ive got to go back to the hospital at 6 today for another trace. The consultant mentioned because of the lack of space she could be lying on the cord.

Does anyone know if this is a serious problem? I seem to remember reading somewhere that more fluid is produced all the time. Is that right?

Still on the plus side, my induction was booked in today for the 4th december!!!! ooo..

Babe don't worry too much. Fluid levels can go up and down during pregnancy, low fluid levels can be a cause for concern, but please know they can go up again. Drinking lots of water is apparently sometimes able to help (doesn't always work though) and resting as much as possible will help. Bed rest is sometimes advised, but certainly stopping work and not overdoing anything.

Low aniotic fluid level is called Oligohydramnios . There are alot of things online about it, but before you go worrying yourself daft, it needs to be confirmed as consistently low. The main worry is that if the fluid is very low it can cause problems for the babies lungs to develop and the baby may be born earlier, either by induction or spontanious preterm labour.

But please wait till you know more before you panic, it can go back up again hunnie. They will more than likely scan you frequently now and do lots of traces on the babies heartbeat to check how baby is coping with the lower fluid level.

Big hugs hunnie

Hope you come back with some good news Sam!

Thanks girls. Im sorry i posted this, and ive read it back and i sound like a right worrier! It was just to much and i needed to get it off my chest or i would start blubbering like a baby.

Babies trace was fine this evening. im not 100% sure what they are planning to do about the lack of fluid. Im guessing that they will just check it in a few days time, but i am no doubt going to speak to the docs tomorrow about it.

My Liver levels came back within the 'ok' range, but my Bile levels are raised. Again, not much to do apart from contiune with the meds and contiune to monitor me and LO closely.

Sami, thanks for the info on the fluid levels. Im having daily traces anyway, and weekly scans. I recon they will just increase the scans. i seem to be drinking more water than normal anyway, but i will try and drink some more :) I recon i could just about manage bed rest.

Again, thanks for the support! You are all fab

had another scan this morning and the fluid levels are back in the 'normal' range. they are still going to keep an eye on them though. Ive got another scan booked in for wednesday.

And baby behaved herself again today! Trace was perfect, no declerations noted in 30 mins!!! so i treated her to a little shopping trip :D

Glad you have got some good news Sam! It's so worrying when they keep sending you for checks but she seems to be doing just fine! :cheer:

Thanks huni!

it just seems to be constant checks and it feels like they are looking for something wrong. I know they are just checking to be able to catch something if it is, but it was getting me down.

Still its OH's birthday tomorrow, and LO has been such an angel the last two days! Im not going to be down this weekend :)

Also, hopefuly one of you girls will give birth this weekend, so we all get to look at more beautiful baby pics!

See I told you it can go back up :) Great news babe. Have a good wekend and let us knwo how it goes Monday xx
