Hey - has anyone had any dealings with this? We had our 8 wk check and jabs today and when i asked doc he said she did have a flat head but nothing to worry about and most sort out otherwise hair will cover!!!

I have just done some research on net and wondering if should see a specialist as treatment early on is best.

Anyone else's baby had this or know of someone who has? Any advice appreciated x

When I had my 6-8 week check with HV she reffered me to the hospital as my LO has a flat head on one side and tends to sleep that side and she was worried about her getting tight neck muscles. So since them I've been trying to give her more tummy time and to try and make her move her head to her good side and when she's asleep move her head to the non flat side. Had appt at hospital few days ago and we don't have to go anymore as they said I'm doing all the right things anyway to help and they said once my LO is old enough to sit up it will in time round out again. She also said if it doesn't at least her hair will cover it.

My LO developed a flat head at a similar age and it really worried me. The health visitor recommended as much tummy time as poss but Grace hated it! I pesisted though, giving her very short bouts of tummy time 3 times a day. Gradually as her neck muscles got stronger she began to manage it for longer periods of time, I got a few pull along toys which I would pull along in front of her so she had something to watch. Also bought a Lila Kuddis pillow, http://lillakuddisbabypillows.co.uk/ was skeptical at first as just seemed like anormal pillow but apparently it works by taking the pressure off baby's head. Grace would sleep on it everynight (put it under the fitted sheet so she wouldn't pull it over her face) would also use it during the day for naps and playtime. Miraculously a combination of these two things worked and her flat head has completely corrected itself! :) She absolutely loves tummy time now and is always rolling onto her front. Good luck! x x

I was reading a thing about this the other day. Apparently it's a lot more common now because of the guideline for putting baby down on their back. It should sort its self out as she grows, but judging by the article it's going to be a pretty commons feature among LOs. If your worried try more tummy time, cuddles etc anything where LO isn't lying on their back. Maybe invest in a sling if tummy time doesn't work. Xxx
