First visit.

I see my midwife for my first visit on the 19th october.
I will be 9 weeks pregnant.
Can you tell me what happens on the first visit and will she be able to give me a vaginal scan or will i have ot book that?

you fill in loads of paperwork and sign a couple of forms. She should give you an information pack to take home with you and you can ask any questions

She takes your blood pressure and medical history (remember to take a pot of wee with you)

She will arrange for your scan date to be sent to you- they don't normally do one at your first consultation.

To the MW appointment? I don't think so. It's just paperwork and a bit of a chat with her, maybe bloods if its that time also. If you already know where you'd like to give birth you can discuss the options also (I did as am going outside my health authority area and it requires paperwork from her) but other than that it was just the basics. And there was nothing we discussed that my hubby needed to be there for. We'd already talked between ourselves as to our wants and needs and I just relayed them to the MW. She was fine with it all.
