Sorry to post a downer but just needed some advice....

Last night when I took my bra off I felt a large lump on the side of my left breast. I asked my OH to feel and just from the look of his face I burst into tears. Not slept most of the night despite him trying to reassure me. He said (after reading online) it is really common and would be unlikely to be cancer. He found some information that it is especially common in pregnant women and is known as fibroadenoma.

I have an appointment with the GP tomorrow at 3.30 pm. I literally rang them as soon I opened my eyes this morning!!

Has anyone else experienced this at all?

xxxx

hey hun, really hope it is what your oh has found and that it is nothing more serious, not experienced it myself or heard of it b4, Hope all is ok, keep us posted, FX for you. x x

Yes - but not when I was pregnant. I discovered a lump but i didn't do anything for a few weeks, maybe even months. When I finally went to see my GP he referred to a specialist at St. Barts in London. He was the most amazing Dr. i've ever seen. I had a mammogram even though they don't give them to under 35s (I was 34). They diagnosed fibroadenoma. Low and behold the lump went within two days of me seeing him!

I think it's always best to have lumps checked out. Try not to worry (I know its difficult). It may very well be something to do with pregnancy and milk developing in your breasts. I know I started leaking at 28 weeks so its definitely there. It could be to do with hormones/glands.

Let us know how it goes..

x

FX its that. good luck x

Using tapatalk so excuse the typos!

Is it possible that it could be a blocked milk duct? Have u been wearing non underwired bras?

Not heard of fibroadeoma, but I really hope all is ok Hun :hugs: xx

Thank you, this is really reassuring. I just need to keep thinking it is common but as soon as anyone says lump you just think the worse. Well I do!! I will definitely keep you all posted.

I think this might be the problem hon. Plus I have sometimes slept in my bras because my boobs are massive and I find it more comfortable wearing it but will have to stop. xx

Just want to send you hugs honey. Try not to panic. Make sure you let us know how you get on x

Hi hun, sorry that you've found this. I can understand it must be a worry. Will be keeping everything crossed for your appt this afternoon. Its probably something really common and pregnancy related like Kanga has suggested, our bodies do weird things! But will be thinking of you  xxx

thinking of u but sure it s most probly pregnacy related x

This is exactly what I was going to say.

Hope everything's ok xx

I think it is highly likely it is pregnancy related, try not to stress yourself out, hope all goes well at docs. x

Thanks all, feeling somewhat better than I was last night! Will let you know how the appointment goes tomorrow. Positive thoughts from now until then :) xx

Last October I noticed a lump in my breast that the gp thought was this, she said its also known as a breast mouse as it moves around when you touch it, she sent me for a mamogram and they also gave me an ultrasound and said it was just a lump of fatty breast tissue, mine was quite painful to touch particularly in the first months of pregnancy but I'm not aware of it at all now so its hopefully gone, its hard but try not to worry I'm sure you will be fine x x

Thanks Gooseberry. Mine moves under the skin but is not painful, am hopeful but just want the GP to say all is ok xx

Just to update people that asked....the GP has referred me to the hospital for a scan. Will get a referral letter with the appointment in the next 2 weeks. Nerve racking but the GP reassured me the best she could.

Thanks for all the support ladies. Will update you as and when.
xxxx

Thx for update. I hope you get the appt. soon, just to put your mind at rest x

I have lumps in the side of my boobs, which I think is due to wearing an underwired bra and when I'm in bed aswell. I haven't had it checked out, I will mention it to MW but I've heard its common to have lumps and bumps in pregnancy so I'm not too worried..

Hope your scan goes well, x
