I don't believe that babies can be overfed as they'll spit up or vomit anything they don't want and need but I feel like I'm feeding my LG alot in the past week. She's bottle fed, and is taking anything between 2 - 5oz every 2 hours on the dot (give or take half an hour). She takes anywhere between 20 - 45mins to finish a bottle, or take what she wants, so by the time she's finished, it's not long at all until she gives off feeding cues again.

I try and see if she's genuinely hungry or just wanting something to suck by offering her a dummy, but more often than not she spits it out and carries on fussing/crying. She takes so long aswell to settle sometimes that shes not even slept in between feeds - most frustrating when she does this at night!

She's a month old exactly tomorrow. Is any of this normal? Is there something I need to change, like her milk or bottle teats to medium flow etc.? I'm not particularly asking this to make her sleep longer inbetween feeds (although if the outcome is that she will then bonus!) but more as a concern that she might not be getting what she needs in each feed and possibly losing sleep.

I took note of what she drank and when over a 24 hour period. The times are when she finished:

5am - 4oz
7.15am - 3oz
9.00am - 3oz
12.30pm - 4oz
15.30pm - 3oz
17.40pm - 2.5oz
18.10pm - 0.5oz
20.00pm - 3oz
21.30pm - 2oz
22.30pm - 2oz
12.00am - 2oz water
12.30am - 2.5oz
3.25am - 4oz
6.35am - 3.5oz

First thing I would try is a faster flow teat. That's quite long (in my opinion) to take so little. Hope things improve. How long has been feeding so often? Could be cluster feeding due to growth spurt and may pass. x

I thought growth spurt aswell, it's been about a week that she's feeding so often. She's taken ages to feed pretty much since birth, theres only the odd time where she would down a bottle in 10 minutes or so. I've always thought she takes ages, I guess theres no harm in trying a faster flowing teat, I can always go back if she can't handle it x

37oz in 24 hours does seem like a hell of lot to be honest.

I've just had a look at one of my Aptimal bottles and the 'average' they give for a month old is 20-25 oz in 24 hours.

I'd always be happier thayt baby is eating 'more' as opposed to not enough but I'd maybe check with HV.

X

Ps she is same age as Bee (a month tomorrow). I'm bfing though so have no idea how much she has..... I did however ff James from 8 weeks and kept a meticulous log of everything he ate / drank until he was a year old. I went through phases of thinking he was having too much or too little. ... typical first time mum worries lol.

Definitely going to mention it to HV, she's here on Monday x
