Facebook 'friends'

I like it when people remove you, block you and then dont have the guts to tell you what they are pissed off about

I have a regular Facebook cull - as I post information about my daughter and personal life on there, I do try to ensure that the only people on there are people I speak to regularly and care about.

When I first set up Facebook, I added everyone and anyone I'd ever passed the time of day with, then over time I've realised that that's not what I want to use it for - I want to share photos and information with people who are important to me.

When I left my job recently, I deleted people who I'd added while I worked there, 'cos they'd asked and 'cos I didn't want to be rude, but was happy to delete them as I had no intention of keeping in touch as we weren't close.

I have this conversation quite regularly with friends in real life, I have come the conclusion that I with there could be different categories of Facebook friends - work friends, University friends, school friends, best friends etc - and you could tick boxes while adding information to say what info was available to which groups of friends. There's things or photos I want to share with close friends but not with old school friends - but this 'selection' option isn't available and I think that's a Facebook flaw.

Or what about when you tell the person clearly what they have done to annoy you they don't reply and then ask you a week later again?

Couldn't have put it better myself.

I had nearly 1000 friends on there (all of whom I either knew in real life, had done in the past, or 'knew' from on here) but it was getting ridiculous because I couldn't keep track of what my REAL friends were up to, i.e. people that I care about. So I deleted about 600 friends and now have about 400. It's still too many!!!!

You can customise your photo albums so they are only available to certain friends- I have a few albums that are 'inside jokes' and might offend some friends so they can only be viewed by 4 or 5 friends who would get the joke IYKWIM.

I know that you can choose who sees your photos, but in reality it doesn't work for me. If a friend comments on a photo then any of their friends (regardless of who they are, if I've ever met them or not) can see my whole album. Therefore if someone I've deleted or deliberately not added or don't wish to add is a friend of a friend of mine, they can see all my photos in a particular album.

I don't think this system is good and I'd like to be able to trust that info or photos I post can only be seen by certain groups of people 100%.

I'm the same. I don't really 'talk' to any PF people on FB but I have a few of you on there. I enjoy looking at the pics and seeing what everybody is up to. :D

Me too.
When I forst joined I added loads of people from school then realised I didn't even really speak to them much at school

I love having random people who I have worked with or went to school with, even if its from years ago and we havent stayed in touch before facebook. I even found a lad from America who hitch hiked with us in our car when we were driving around Australia in 2000!

I do see what you are saying though Valentine and agree with you :)
