Hi girls

Glad to see your all doing well. I've been mostly awol during 1st tri and a bit of 2nd tri - coming onto the computer at night after looking at a bloody screen all day at work just made me :puke: . Missed you all though xxx

My very good friend has just announced her wedding on 13th Jan - I'll be 20 weeks and reckon I'll have a good size bump by then (starting to get a big hard belly now!). My question is - yeah I know, I'm getting there - have any of you any experience of buying a decent black tie or cocktail kind of evening maternity dress? I don't want to be immortalised in her photos as "the whale in black" so any advice you've got would be great.

Cheers and HAPPY FRIDAY all
Peanut xxx

Hi!

I got a really nice one from Dorothy Perkins, only the bigger stores stock it, so you may be better off getting it online if you like it :)

This is my £29.99 dress from H&M & not maternity and I was 22 weeks there! Just a simple wrapy around jobby that looked really nice on!!!

i got an evening dress for our xmas parties we had to go to from new look maternity, they have some really nice ones and not too expensive either

i got a brilliant dress from debenhams in the Red Herring Maternity range for hubby's posh xmas do. i'm going to wear it for a wedding in Feb as well - you can see the range on the debenhams web site

thanks for the suggestions girls - Kat and Kirlykird thanks for the pics.

i recentl just got a really nice black dress with black sequins on from new look, think it was 29.99 and thought it would be great for the xmas party season, not been to any parties though!

There are some gorgeous dresses from Isabella Oliver (online), I only wish I had something lined up to wear one to! I'm 17 weeks so around the same point and had a black tie "do" to go to on Saturday night but a dress I had bought in April still fitted!!! Have a look at this site though, there are some lovely clothes!

what a lovely site - thanks Ali. It was my birthday yesterday and I got quite a bit of cash - I think I know where I'm going to spend it! Yum yum

I'm so glad you like it! It was recommended to my by a recent Mum too! I've only bought some trousers so far but am looking forward to buying more once I start expanding!

Enjoy your do!

I bought this one from Jo Jo Mama's Its Silk and a lovely fit because it pulls in under the bust so shows off your bump without making you look big anywhere else.

true, im glad someone asked this. my boyfriends mum and step dad are gettin married a week before my due date! oh god, what a disaster lol, what to wear! argh x

Just thought I'd let you know I bought this:

I've just tried it on and I feel a million dollars in it - great fabric, great cut and unusual to boot. No black whale look for me!

I also bought a skirt, 2-in-1 top and a wrap cardigan and they are all lovely. I'm really looking to showing off my bump as it gets bigger!

Thats gorgeous!!!! Glad it fits well and you're pleased with it - now you just need to make sure you take every opportunity to wear it and show off your bump!! :cheer:

Thanks, I will! I've already swished around the office in it to show everyone!!!!

Brilliant! I would be doing the same - make sure whenever you feel down or hormonal you put it on to perk you up :cheer:
