any one heard of these? there salts that u get from the chemist they are for consipation but my mum swears by them to get rid of FULL BOOBS, i had my baby 3days ago they are huge rock solid and swallon, im thinking about taking some there ment to make all the milk leak out and dry up??????

any opinions :?: :?:

I've heard that a warm bath with epsom salts helps with engorgement but have never tried it sorry. Apprently cold cabbage leaves is good, and its meant to be the greener the better???

Epsom salts will make you dehydrated (not what you want when looking after your little one).

Has your MW not got any tips?

really? ops iv took them now and i took loads iv been drinking loads of water tohu, but the pain i was getting from my boobs was unbelievable!!
felt like to knives being stabbed into me, iv got such a tight support bra on which is making it worse.. im usually a b cup right now ild put jorden to shame i want to take bra of but i no i wont get it bk on then il be left saggy!!!

midwife told me to bath with it on

are you breastfeeding or are you bottle feeding and waiting for your milk to dry up? i expressed a bit of my milk when i was engorged, as my boobs were so full ruben couldn't latch on!! obviously if you want them to dry up this is not a good idea as it will stimulate more milk production in the long run... but it was a relief to me! i didn't express a lot, just enough to relieve the pressure if you like! and in a few days it settled down, as my boobs began to produce just the amount ruben needs.

nope im waiting for them to dry up im bottle feeding its so painfull its unbeleiveable i cant do any thing, and with my 2babies, i cant afford to be out of action

my mum used to bind my auntie in bandages but i think they advise against this now but it did work

I use epsom salts in the bath, Dionne, and also they're good to draw out infection and bruising. They will draw out a splinter if you soak your hand in epsom salts. My doctor swears by them. What have you got to lose?

I think that the worry is this can cause mastitis/blocked ducts (which from personal experience I can say ouch ouch ouch!)

Probably warms baths will help. Also Dionne, try putting some warm/hot water inside a clean disposable nappy so it soaks it up, then put this on your boob. The nappy will keep the warmth longer than a flannel etc. This should help sooth your boobs.

Hi Dionne, when I stopped breastfeeding I had hot baths and just gently squeezed the milk out or if you have a breast pump do that 2 or 3 times a day just express a little bit and in a couple of days they should be OK as mine were exactly the same. Hope that helps. It worked for me anyway. xxxxxx
