So on Monday decided we'd try to start giving Harry a bath on the evening so then he could feed and try and start a bit of a routine.

He'll be 4 weeks tomorrow and although I'm not mega fussed about him being in a routine I do want to try a few different things out at night.

So Monday he had a bath at 8 and then a feed and was asleep on his crib by 8.40. He woke at 9.30 for a quick top up then went back off.
Slept 2.5 hours til 12 fed then went til 3am

But then woke again at 5 after 1.5 hours sleep then had a small feed and slept til 6

Last night was pretty similar except we did bath at 7 he went down about 9.

So to me it now feels like we've gone up to more than 2 feeds in the night. Last week he was going down later say between 10-11 but then going through til anywhere between 2-3 but then he'd go again til

Feel more tired than I ever have done!!

Am I best just to go back to how we were last week or persevere and see if he can settle down for longer periods?

Sorry for essay wanted to get it written down while I remember!

Evie still waking anywhere between 4 and 1.5 hours a night with no predictable pattern - it's a nightmare isn't it! Last night we were awake between 3.30 and 5.30am as we had a projectile vomit incident and she wouldn't settle afterwards. We are treating ourselves to a lazy day today - still in bed now after another feed!! Sorry I don't have any decent suggestions!!

I darent mess with my routine. I tried to change it a bit yesterday and last night didn't go well :(

We did bath at 8.45 instead of 9.30 ish and the little madam didn't fall asleep feeding until 11.10!!! That was almost 2 bloody hours of feeding. So she didn't go to bed any earlier anyway.

And she was then up at 2.55 until 4.10 and then she woke again at 5.15 :wall: and wouldn't settle back to sleep in the basket. I had to sleep cradling her on the bed  bad mummy.

I am so tired today

Meant to add, I don't have any suggestions either :(

Tbh it may be nothing to do with the bath, we started the bath bottle bed routine at 6 weeks and now even if she's full of beans in the bath by the time her jammies are going on she's ready to sleep. I do think it's worth sticking with as long as the bath is winding him down as some babies it does the opposite. I'd give it another week of the routine before changing it

He does enjoy the bath but not sure yet whether it's waking him up too much.

Last week was better as he was sleeping from 7 til 10 ish then going down between 11 and 12.
Reluctant to do bath earlier than 7 at the mo as hubby does it and it's their special time. ( he's also really good at holding Harry with one hand as his hands are so big!!) Harry loves swishing round the bath!!

Today's only mission is to complete the ironing I started on Monday as yesterday we bought a new one!!!

i honestly think at such a young age you wont get them into a routine at all!! they will wake, sleep and eat when they want no matter what you do. My HV said dont expect to try a routine til 12 weeks!!

keep bathing in the evenings so he may start associating baths with evenings at a later date but dont put so much pressure on yourself if hes not doing what you want him to be, id say you've got a long while yet til hes in a pattern xxxxxx

Like I said I'm not bothered about him having one just thought it was good to try and see what happened of I bathed him at night!!

Just strange that the nights I've tried something it was disastrous!!

Coupled with 2 nights of not good sleeping I now have a baby that won't nap for long in the day when he used to do so well!

Ah well there's always tomorrow!!!

Well no two days are ever the same hun do chances are it will all go swimmingly tomorrow :)

i find i usually have 1 bad day, 1 good day, i bad day, i good day etc!!

xxxx
